Ohhhhh you made me cry NOT. Where the hell were you since she was 4 months old. playing around and not giving a heck about your baby??? Now that you are older and perhaps less in demand and/or attractive and most possibly lonely you now remembered your child???
However if there was a good reason such as you been in prison etc. that you could not possibly see her then fair enough and good luck, and you have all my compassion but sorry if you could see her but chosen not to all this time then I have no compassion for you and I think your cry is because you are lonely and happy that someone wanna enter your life.

I'm happy for you both.
One word of advice...I don't know the details as to why you weren't there for 13 years (could be you, could be the mom), but whatever you do...don't disappoint her. Come through for her if you make any promises. That will cement your relationship with her.
My father wasn't around at all when I was young (it was for the best), but he called once when I was 12 and said he missed my brother and me and he wanted to see us, Christmas gifts, etc...but never called again, until I was 19. He then asked if I would hug him if I saw him. My bitter response was that, "I wouldn't know you if I saw you."
I finally forgave him for all and developed somewhat of a relationship with him (over the phone because he lived in another state) when I was 23. He died 7 months later. I never once met him.
Bottom line...if you're in her life, be in it. If not, then do her a favor and let her grow up.
Good luck to you and your daughter. I wish you a happy relationship.

Your story touches my heart. I am so happy for you. I hope a lot of women that decide to stop fathers seeing their children read this and learn from it.
I wish you a very happy life and once again tell you that you're story is wonderful. Good luck for the future.
Ps. How about writing on this site what it was like not to see her, your story might make some women that have issues, sit back and stop making stupid decisions.

Where have you been for 13 years??
You've missed out on all the mile stones of growing up to a teenager, and the hard work too.
You feel happy?
What about her? And didn't you love her before now?
You should have been around from day one, regardless of any excuses.

Wow thats a long time! I'm gonna have to take her side and be kinda surprised to see my father after not knowing him for so long. I know exactly what she's thinking though. I'm 21 and haven't seen or spoken to my father since I was 7.

That is great, please remain in her life a girl always needs her Daddy especially since she's become a teenager - you need to teach her what to expect of men as she gets older, you teach by example. Show her how to be a strong woman and not to take any bs from men - cause Daddy will hunt them down!! Best Wishes

This happened to me and my dad, except he didn't see me from when I was 6 to fourteen, and the years he did see me 0-6 was maybe 1 a year. It didn't work out, I don't talk to him anymore. It was always about him, and I couldn't look at him without thinking what he's done to me emotionally and my mom physically.
