in england a man was only allowed to beat his wife with a stick that was no thicker than his thumb. Hence the origin of the saying "Rule of thumb!"

I think it was Los Angeles you are not permitted to have four wheeled vehicle, motorised or not, on the footpath, which in effect outlaws the use of prams, wheelchairs etc... on public footpaths.

In south Australia if you stole any stock animal you could be hung, this law was, last time I checked, still not amended, though federal law does outlaw hanging.

In NSW it is illegal to be a prostitute or to use a prostitue but it is not illegal to run a brothel. AND it is not illegal to buy or own adult content pornography but it is illegal to sell it.

In Oklahoma, a train is supposed to be preceeded by a man on a white horse carrying a red flag.

Many laws are on the books because taking days of time to vote them off is just too costly, so they're not enforced. They are fun to look up though.

I believe it's strange to allow poor people to vote. It seems if they are poor they might not be the brightest voters. I believe that only RICH people should vote... Come on now, I know you agree. American was better when we had slavery.... Blacks were not the only enslaved class. Poor whites who did not own property had the exact same rights as the slaves,,,,,,,,,,

Hong Kong - A woman who catches her husband red-handed cheating is allowed to kill him, BUT.... she may only do so with her bare hands.

As for the mistress, she can be killed in any manner the wife sees fit.

Sweden -Prostitution is legal but using the services of a prostitute is illegal.
