This is a purely subjective question. All opinions welcomed, no matter how illicit. Does this economy based on at least these factors, social climate, economy, quality of life and whatever else the respondent feels that need be taken into consideration. To make a long story short, gimme the lowdown.

Germany is a good place to look to work and live. You should remember they have had American blacks there since ww2. They value hard work and education.

I like your chances a lot.

I grew up in Bavaria, the south of Germany, where there was a huge US military presence. Not rarely did civilians choose to stay in Germany and start life anew. They had absolutely no problems whatsoever, save for the language which took them a while to learn.

The social climate itself is generally good. Germans, I;m sorry to say this, seem naturally repressed people, so anybody that can add color -pun fully intended- is always a good thing. The most boring thing in the world would be Germany only to the Germans. They would all die a slow death, from boredom. Germans are very open, like to talk and exchange opinions with foreigners, and have shown to be very gifted when it comes to comprehending foreign afairs. You will have some great talks with them.

The quality of life, in my opinion, is far superior to that of the US. You can live very well there, enjoy a social life, and plenty of vacation without much ado. People generally seem more equal there, they can relate to each other better, because, though there might not be the millionaires there are in the US, the median income in Germany is generally higher.

Ah, but then there's the economy, which has tanked enormously in the past ten years due to several unpopular reforms and a currency reform that has had people tightening their pursestrings a little more. Health insurance suddenly costs more for the employee, and there are a lot of services not covered that need to be paid by the consumer. The worker's unions are still strong, although membership is declining.

Then there's the weather. Personally, I don't mind milder climates, but the weather might and will not be to everyone's liking. A lot of rain, rarely blue skies. Cold winters, hot, sticky summers. Might not be your cup of tea, or mug of beer in this case.

There are other intangibles Germany has, like transportation (trains there are awesome for the most part), the cities are great to visit, and of course you're in the middle of Europe.

Anyway, there's good and bad there like every country. Best of luck. I sincerely hope you enjoy it.

A goog friend of mine is black and living in Germany. His experience has been very positive. Germans value hard work, education, and a willingness to learn the language. However, he did say that he found living in Bavaria difficult. People there were a little more closed minded about blacks. He ended up taking a job up near Hamburg and has had no trouble.
