You may want to watch it. Is your dog acting normal? My dog just has red blood from her rear and some diarrhea as well. It may have been something the dog ate outside...like grass and stuff. Also if you have given him a chew treat like a cows hoof or pigs ear...sometimes those contain salmonella in them which will cause diarrhea and blood in the poop as well.. My vet(on Fri--7-28-06)advised me to give the dog beef and rice...Like 5 parts beef and 4 parts rice. It is a bland diet that will help. The hard dog food will uasually irritate the bowel even more. But red blood usually indicates it is in the rectum or colon area.

That has happened to my puppy too before-- yellow with red things that look like tiny cherries, right? Well, I have been giving my puppy the same food too, but a few days later, she vomitted up a whole lot of things that she hadn't chewed up before swallowing. Make sure that when you let your dog out in the backyard or when you take her for walks, watch her and closely monitor what she eats if she randomly picks it off from the ground. My puppy actually vomitted up chunks of puppy food and a whole clump of grass. If this poo consistently comes out of your dog, then there could be a problem and I suggest you take her to the vet. Otherwise, wait it out and give your dog normal dog food, and cut down on the water a bit. It will get better gradually.

(Your dog is not going to die. Puh-lease.)

Hope that helps!

It could be blood or something else he may have eaten. What goes in, must come out.

Testing stool samples at the vet is usually pretty inexpensive, but mostly test for parasites.

With my dogs, as long as they are not dehydrated, feverish, lethargic or showing any other symptoms, I will wait a few days to see if it passes. Diet, stress, antibiotics, flea treatments, etc can be the cause, too.

I usually alter their diet and give them plain, white rice with some canned pumpkin (not pie filling), maybe a little plain yogurt. Just the rice is fine to start. Check for improvement before adding anything hard to process to his meals.

If your dog is very young, senior, or has on-going conditions- you should call the vet ASAP.

It does sound like maybe an intestinal problem. Personally I would take the dog to a vet to find out what the problem is and have it treated. Blood in diarrhea is never a good thing.

This happened to my jack russell and i panicked and rushed her to the vet only to find out she had gotten worms somehow. The only thing is that if it's the same problem with your dog he will need a stronger wormer than from the store which means a trip to the vet anyway. Call your vet-he will probablly need to be seen to rule out any other viruses or parisites.

Did he get into anything or eat something he shouldn't have? I would definitely collect a sample and make an appointment with your vet. Does he have any other symptoms like vomiting or being lethargic? Write down anything that's different about him, and let your vet know about it, so he or she can best treat your dog for whatever's going on. Chances are, it's nothing serious, but it's always better to know for sure.

Sounds like it might be intestinal parasites. It could also be parvo. You need to get him checked out by a vet.
