The human body will return to ground from which it came.

Genesis 2:7 the LORD God formed the man [e] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the Judgment,

The soul is eternal, it is the essence of a person.

Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear Him that is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

We all will exist for eternity,it is our choice whether it be heaven or hell. People in hell will be tortured and tormented forever and wish for death.

Revelation 9:6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

For those who claim there is something left over when we die, call it spirit, soul, whatever, the bible says you are mistaken.
Ecclesiastes 9;5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.
And as such, they cannot function or operate.
The 'soul' is the living breathing 'us'. The Hebrew word translated 'soul' is NEPHESH, which means ' that which breathes'
And it [us]can die, Ezekiel 18;4 Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.

Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits? I think you're right. I think the old man's still kicking.

Everyone who has ever died is dead. End of story. To believe anything else is simply a denial of reality.
