also the reason for my asking this question is:i would like to compare it with the army life in singapore ,where my 21 year old son is serving.no much meals.they are allowed a meagre allowance, depending of their ranks offcourse, and still he comes home always hungry, because apparently, they are not fed decently in there, they are expected to buy foods with their onw money,on top of that,,,,theres no shelters to protect these people from the swealtering tropical weather, and thunderstorm,..knowing that,,singapore has a reputation to have a high level of lightning strikes activities, during certain season of the year,.

Army life in the US is incredible. We receive good pay, tax deductions, free/cheap housing and food, free college, and much prestige and dignity. Our fringe benefits cover everything from dental and medical insurance to cheap shopping at the exchange. We are even eligible to retire with amazing pay after only 20 years of service. Meaning that as early as age 38 (or 42 for officers, since they first need 4 years of training), you can retire from the military and pursue a second career while still receiving a paycheck from the military for the rest of your life.

And despite what many people across the country (most of whom have never served a day in the armed forces) may lead you to believe, the assignments you get are usually interesting and very similar to civilian jobs. Being a soldier is not just about running around the desert with an M-16. The military is very highly technical, and most soldiers' jobs are like working in a high-tech company rather than working as GI Joe. I, as well as all of my friends who are serving in the armed forces, love what we do and love our lifestyle. America takes good care of its soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen.

In America, it is voluntary to serve. They treat our men and women very well with kick **** benefits and discounts. The treatment is fabulous, but the wars that our government allows are rediculous and mundane.
