Why are the cruisers of the Minnesota State Patrol a maroon (blue-tinged red) colour, instead of the much more widely used white?

Police cars can be any color they want them to be. In Michigan they are Blue, some states are black, white and black, white, red, brown etc... and they can be "hidden" as well, w/o decals or a light bar on top to blend in. Those cars can be any color.

My hubbys is white with some awesome decal!
yeah I wanna drive it...oh he works in missouri!
so couldnt tell ya about minnesota!
