The last time I remember seeing her was 4 years ago. She has seen me this year. We have been talking on the phone and trying to get together. I cared enough about her to try to pick her up when she was stranded a long way from home.
We are not a couple yet. We are not dating. Why should I care about what or who she does?

Honey, you feel this way cuz you're a considerate, caring human. You've got feelings towards her because you obviously care for her and it's your nature, as a man, to wanna take care of her. (Hey, it sounds like stone-age but it's true.)

People can develop strong emotional ties to a friend, which can lead into a relationship, afterall isnt that how relationships begin? I mean you dont know each other but you meet and if you feel some kind of feelings towards the person you continue to see each other. So friends most definetly have that happen.

because you like her. when you get to know a person really well, youre going to develope feelings for them, i have feeling for guy friend of mine that im not dating only because ive known them for a long time and they play an important role in my life. Be honest with her and tell her because if she does/doesnt feel the same, you might figure out that your feelings go as far as friendship, just on a deeper level.

Sounds to me like a relationship has begun. It may only be a friendship at this point but a relationship none the less.

Of course ypu can haver feelings for her, but it doesn't mean she feels the same. Why don't you tell her how you feel? Four years is a long time to wait.

Coming from experience - don't get your emotions involved until you know for sure that she feels the same way. Sure, care for her, be there for her, just don't get in over your head i guess is what im saying. best of luck :)
