Yes, it would show up on the test but symptoms may not start showing. Symptoms of HIV (AIDS) may not be apparent for years after the infection occurs, which is why HIV testing is the only sure way to know if you are HIV-positive. Those who do not treat their HIV symptoms or infections may develop AIDS within 12 to 13 years after they are initially infected, although a small percentage of people have developed AIDS within 3 years of becoming infected with HIV. Treatment of HIV may delay or even prevent AIDS, which is why it is so important to find out as early as possible if one has become infected. (Please be reminded that HIV means the virus causing the infection, while the AIDS are symptoms of infection).

If I remember correctly there is an initial infection with flu like symptoms that occurs 10-14 days after initial contact. This lasts 3-4 days, fever, chills, swollen glands etc. Then you can be tested for the antibody for the virus 6 months after the initial infection.

If your friend is concerned that he or she has been exposed I would suggest contacting the nearest public hospital. (if the exposure has been in the last 24 hours go to the ER now!) They will probably have the resources to place him/her on a prophylactic cocktail if there is still time. At the very least they will be able to connect you to local clinics(public and private) who will be able to give you appropriate testing and advice.

Some say there can be as long as a 2 year window before symptons start to show up.

Nonetheless, have your friend get tested every 3 months (up to a year)...and after a year is up...more than likely she/he has not been exposed.

Mostly flu like symptoms. After 6 weeks or so. But that is not for eveyone.

There are free tests at the downtown clinic.

HIV/Aids connection is a myth. Seek alternative treatments to treat HIV/Aids, do not get tested, do not go to a medical doctor.. they will kill you. AZT (a drug prescribed for AIDS) is a killer. It was banned because too many animals died. And now it's used to treat AIDS... HIV itself is a harmless passenger virus. AIDS is created through many sources, sometimes even the drugs prescribed to treat it.

The incubation period can be short as few as 14 days but your question should be directed towards the possible length of the incubation period....the period can extend into months...so even after two weeks, the person is not free of disease.
