Oh, indeed you can order small medium and large. They do understand normal speech, and yet have a language all of thier own. You see originally Starbucks only had two drink sizes. Short and Tall. That made enough sense, but because of Americas demand for ever increasing drink sizes they were forced to come out with another larger drink size, Grande. Still makes sense. Of course, overweight America was still upset. For, ALAS!, the grande was only 16 oz. So Starbucks released the Venti (named after the Italian word for 20) Which just so happens to be a 20 oz beverage.

I was just talking about this the other day. I rarely go there because it taste like burnt coffee so it takes me forever to figure out what I want. There's so many options in there and in the end, you put in your own milk/cream/sugar,honey,etc.
Anyway, it's all for marketing and advertising. Its the cool mod thing to hang out in the elite place where a cup of joe is called something very elegant. You definitely pay the price for it too.

because Starbucks sucks and i would never drink their coffee again by the way i was treated by the employees in an airport, i told them the coffee sucks and you have lost a customer. they messed up on my order and almost refused to get me the coffee i wanted because they were going to make me buy another coffee and the people there thought they did nothing wrong when in reality, they did

we were just talking about that the other day and when you say I will have a medium they right away answer "you want a grande?" it's like they don't understand small, medium or large.
