The belief taken by the majority of Jews is that a man named Jesus lived 2000 years ago. However, we don't think he's the messiah. The Torah talks about a messiah, but never mentions his name. There are also a few descriptions of the messiah that don't match Jesus' description:
When the messiah comes...
1. ...the Temple will be rebuilt. (It hasn't been done yet.)
2. ...the dead will come back to life. (Hasn't happened.)
3. ...there will be no more disease. (Bird flu, cancer, etc.)
The messiah...
4. ...will be a descendant of King David on his father's side.
(Jesus's father was supposedly God, who obviously wasn't descended from King David.)

There are at least two ways to take/answer the question.
1. Some Jews believe that Jesus did walk on earth, but was just a 'good man' (not the Son of God).
2. However, there has been an addition to the scriptures; in Christianity it is commonly here in the U.S. referred to as the red letter edition. In those 'Bibles' all the red letters fall between Matthew-Revelation. From Matthew-Revelation, when Lord appears (capital L), it refers to Jesus. From Genesis-Malachi, when Lord appears; it is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Use the two or more witnesses principle given to the Jews (Deut. 10-20) and the Christians Matt. 18:16, along with a bit of Faith to test this point.

There are some jews that believe in everything: jews for buddha, jews for atheism, jews wiccanism, jews for islam, etc... so, the fact that there are some jews that believe in jesus isn't surprising.
however, it is a small portion of jewry and is therefore not a jewish thing. Since its inception, the vast majority of jews (probably because they knew the scriptures) have rejected jesus as a messiah, prophet, or even a positive role model.

Yeah there is a small group called Jews for Jesus (JFJ) that have bought into the theology that says Jesus was Messiah. NO THE JEWISH RELIGION doesn't beleive in Jesus...They believe the Messiah has yet to come...The Christian view is that Jesus met the criteria to be the Messiah and will yet again return to "save" us. Unfortunately, Christians and the JFJ folks are basing their belief in Jesus on flawed theology. If in fact Jesus was Messiah we wouldn't have sin today...In fact we would not exist because we would have ascended or descended at one of two points in time...His death on the Cross or his resurrection from the grave. We would have been saved right then and there if he was the Messiah. Not only that Jesus only met 80-90% of the sriptural criteria to be Messiah...that's not enough...God (if there is one) would have required 100%. The Jewish view looking forward to a comming Messiah is more optomistic than the Christian view of if at first you don't succeed try, try again (Jesus coming yet again to "save" us). PEACE!

Judaism does not believe in Jesus as a Prophet, god or even a good person. Jews who believe in Jesus have converted to Christianity. Some still masquerade as Jews.

Here's a direct quote from Wikipedia:
"To most Jews, Jesus is simply irrelevant, a non-important figure in a different religion (much as Muhammad might seem to many Christians), known due to their being immersed in a Christian-oriented society rather than through religious significance."

Jewish teaching teaches of a Messiah. The Jews that recognize that this Messiah is Jesus Christ (Christ means Messiah) are called Messianic Jews.

Being Jewish is a heritage as well as a religion. Anyone that is Jewish (of heritage) can either follow the teaching of Judaism or Christianity.

All Jews believe in Jesus. Most all Jews hate Jesus. There are few "Messianic" Jews-they are called Christians.

I think all the major religions(Christianity, Islam, Judaism) believe in Jesus...its just who they believe Jesus was that they disagree about.
