Definitely call the credit card company immediately and cancel--- why are u still reading this... go call!!!

Ur dad has every reason to be upset. U violated his trust. Ur about to go to college- so ur an adult now and ur parents can"t lead u by the hand. They have to trust that they have instilled in you the right principles that will guide you into being a mature, responsible adult. Your actions were a slap in the face. That trust cannot be easily regained.

And believe me- he's also wondering if u would do THAT to HIM... what else would u be capable of doing.

Cancel the card- then talk to ur dad and let him know that it is cancelled. Impress upon him that u know the severity of your error. Let him know that there are possible legal consequences which, you will just have to deal with, but, it may be better for him to punish you directly without involving the law. Let him make the decision if he wants you to still report that you have stolen his identity and committed fraud.

Even if he chooses not to press charges, the credit card company still can. They probably won't- but they can- because you made an agreement with the company that you were being truthful in filling out their application.

Best of luck, and i hope u really learned something from this experience.

Could you get in more trouble? Yes. Will you? No. The credit card company will not pursue it because they have been paid. Call and tell them you want to cancel the card because YOU DID NOT HAVE PERMISSION FROM YOUR DAD to start the account and use his name. Don't say you forged a thing. Use the words I said. They will cancel the account and you will spend a long time earning your Dad's trust back.

Remember, stumbling and falling by doing something wrong does not mean that is the person you are, it was just a stumble and fall. Make sure and be the person you want to be and learn from this experience with the knowledge that you really paid no serious price for the lesson.

Good Luck
Tom

He has to cancel it, or at least they need to think he is cancelling it. You don't seem to have a probelm with forging his signature or acting in his place so call them as your dad, cancel the card (be sure t have his ss# available) and be done. Of course, if he find sout hell be even more pissed. To answer your question about getting in trouble, the credit card company can press charges against you for fraud but unlikely they would.

Your best bet would be to cancel the card. If you confess to the card company you can be arrested. Otherwise your dad would have to report you for what you did. Wait till he calms down and explain to him that you made a stupid mistake and that you know that now and that you don't want to mess up the rest of your life because of it. If he's reasonable he will see the light and give up.

cut the card immediately, and technically HE should cancel it...its in his name...yes it is illegal...its called identity theft....i would not use the card for any future purchases and if you want to smooth things over with your dad i'd suggest you wait until he cools off...aproach him in a mature manner an accept responsibility for what you did.....and honestly....if you didnt really learn a lesson from this mess i wouldnt bother...it wont make a difference...remember sincerity is the key here...to answer your second question...interest is the amount of money that the cc company charges you for extending credit to you (or in this case, your dad) and yes you could have messed up his credit....obviously youre young....do you see why you shouldnt have done this now?

Call back the credit card company, continue to lay about you're social security number and simply tell them that you've lost ed! And you don't want a new card. Very easy!

Good luck!

If I was your Father, I would call the credit card company myself and straighten it out. Doesnt sound like you are responsible enough to do that! Try to improve your integrety and spelling!

You need to take responsibility for what you did. It was wrong and it was illegal. The sooner you understand that you're responsible for what you do, the better it will be for you. You owe you dad a BIG apology and need to figure out a way to make it up to him. Being mature about what you did will go a long way toward impressing him.

You need to do as your dad says. You are starting your life out on the wrong foot there kiddo. You have lost your fathers trusts and now you don't want to face up to your obligation. Your a loser and I know you father is wondering what he did wrong to make you that way. It's too bad he feels that way because I think you got that way on your own.

call the credit card company and tell them you do not want the card anymore and that you want the account closed. Then destroy the card.
