I usually purchase my tickets directly from the airline on their website The reason for this is because I try to fly United everywhere. What I have discovered is that when searching online travel companies, the fares that they offer regarding United is exactly what United offers. This isn't always true, but United does have a "lowest price guarantee". In this day and age, it pays to spend a little time searching for the best deals. I have found that the price differences between the major travel companies really doesn't vary too greatly.

As for the passport, it doesn't make things easier for you through security as you only need a State or Federal identification card to get through. The only time that your passport expedites you through an airport is when you are going through Immigtration and you have a Diplomatic passport. The Dip. line is always shorter then the rest of the lines.

As for the requirement for a passport to Hawaii, I think that some information may have been posted in error. I checked the State Departments website and a passport is not required for Hawaii. Here's the site for more info: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html

As for what you can and can't take, here is the info:

I prefer to buy my airline tickets directly through the airline of choices website. You will not be charged a service fee and you will have a very simple process to purchase. You may also call the airline, or go through a travel agency. To check what you can and can't bring on the plane, go to the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) website, www.tsa.gov, and from their look for the list which tells you what you can and cant bring on the plane. They are in control of most things. Also, check with the airline that you will be flying, as they may have different policies. The only way you will need a passport is if you fly international. You do not need a passport to go to Hawaii and no it will not make things easier at security. All you need is your drivers license or a photo id and you are all set.

You can purchase airline tickets from the airline directly or go thru a travel agent. You will not need a passport to go the Hawaii but take along some photo id in case the flight gets diverted for some reason. Don't take along sharp metal objects like scissors or pocket knives as these will be confiscated. Generally don't take fruit or unpackaged food items as these may be restricted. Enjoy you trip.

You may buy your ticket online, or over the phone or through a travel agency. Do not bring any hazardous materials, explosives, bladed objects that can be used to harm other people. If you are US citizen you do not need passport to go to Hawaii. For travel to other countries, a passport is needed. For Canada and Mexico, you might be able to use any ID like drivers license, but a passport is a safe bet.

Most airlines have Internet connection or you can use a search , like discount fares, cheap ticket, travelocity, etc. Each airlines have a list of restricted items you can or can not bring on a plane. You can check this list on-line at the airlines site. The passport is a great form of identification to have. If your an American you will not need one to fly to Hawaii

Buy your tickets on line or at any travel agency.

They will tell you what you can bring and what you can't. Or you can to the the TSA's website for full information.

As of the end of this year, travellers to and from Hawaii will be treated as international travelers even if the flight originates on US soil. It would be best to have a passport to avoid hassles.
