My siberian husky loves fruits. I used to give him grapes ocassionally but I've been told that it's actually bad for them. Any suggestion on what fruits I can give him? Thanks.

Grapes are toxic in large quantities as are raisons. Watermelon shouldnt be bad might give them the runs if they eat a lot of it. Mangoes are okay but make sure you cut it up I have seen a number of dogs get sick from eating the pit of mangoes and it gets stuck in their intestines and they either have it removed surgically or die. As far as other fruits go pomogranites are bad, carrots are good, corn - probably fine as long as its not on the cob (cob can get stuck in their gut as well), apples are fine, pears are fine. I hope this helps

Melon, berries, mango, anything but grapes it seems. Try semi-frozen in the summer, they love it. The food no-nos are chocolate(baking & dark is worse), macadamia nuts, onions and grapes. Small amounts like 4 grapes every other week or some onions with pot roast once a month won't affect an average adult Husky. You have to take age, weight, allergies, amount ingested, how often they are eaten, etc. into consideration if your dog gets any of these before you worry. I know of a Greyhound that ate an entire batch of Duncan Hines Brownies and was just fine. A pound of dark chocolate would have been another story.

I never heard that about grapes. My dog used to steal grapes off the neighbor's vine-it never hurt her. Try any fruit in moderation remeber to only give a taste though as it can make a dog have the runs. NOT AVOCADOS they are toxic to dogs. My dog loves watermelon.

Well, grapes are bad for dogs because of their high-sugar content. It puts a strain on their system, just like feeding them candy would. So, it's more or less a matter of good judgement -- avoid those fruits that are very high in sugar content.
And, even beyond that, it depends on the problems your breed is prone too. My mini-schnauzers are prone to pancreatitis, so I have to make sure that their diets are low in fat. Other breeds, like Boxers, are prone to irritable colins. So, your best bet is to talk to your vet. Some variety in their diet is good, but that variety must not include extremes - like super sugary foods like grapes.
Good luck, and thanks for being a good enough dog-owner to even ponder this!!

Almost all fruit is fine. (except grapes or raisins)
Especially apples with the skin on (adds antioxidants)

Here's a list of vegetables you can also give:

Squash, turnip, pumpkin, potatoes, celery, zucchini, cucumbers, celery, tomatoes, asparagus, carrot, red and green peppers, green beans, peas, broccoli

You can't feed dogs grapes or raisins because dogs can vomit, have diarrhea, abdominal pain or become restless and tired.

Good to know that you're interested in feeding him healthy snacks.

They can eat any fruit actually, but rememebr that pits and seeds can be poisonous, as they contain small amounts of cyanide. Even apple seeds!! So fruit, yes, pits and seeds no. And never grapes or raisins either.

bananas, grapes(some dogs can eat them and some dogs can't), apple, kiwi, strawberries, just about any thing you eat and buy on a normal basis try to give them to him to see if he'll eat them or not

My bullies love granny smith apples. I cut them into small chunks with no skin. They also love fresh pineapple. Just make sure to cut off all the rind so it doesn't hurt their mouth!
