Drive it home with their tag on the car then return the tag. Or you can have it towed home. Worse case is take a tag off a car you own and use it for ONLY the drive home. Make sure you have all papers with you as if you get stopped you can be fined for wrong plate. But most cops are cool if you have papers showing you just bought it and are just getting it home.

In some jurisdictions you can merely transfer you license plates temporarily to take the car home. It is also possible to buy a temporary 48 hour license to transport the vehicle and you will need to show proof of insurance before you can put it on the road.

You usually just need to have the signed title with you until you get the title transferred then registration and plates. A bill of sale would be nice to have, but that is usually more to protect the seller.

Depending on the state you are in. Some states will issue a temporary tag with proof of ownership, which would be the title signed on the back and notorized.

Take the pink slip to the police and have them circulate to the place of residing with you. the only ingredient you would be able to could pay them is the quantity they paid to retrieve the motor vehicle. they'll could grant evidence of those maintenance, and if the date is later than the invoice of sale, any funds they positioned into the motor vehicle after to procure that's their loss, it wasn't their motor vehicle while they did the artwork. a pair of notes: a million) I even have never heard of a motor vehicle being towed because of the fact of expired plates, on condition that it exchange into tagged and not moved. of path it varies via state. 2) The police could declare it a civil case, meaning you may could take it to courtroom.
