I just wanted everyone to know that the person asking the question is Mike67333 and he is going to give himself the best answer, just like he has been doing if you look at the questions posted by this person. You should also know that Mike is talking about me. It was not that I did not want the responsibility, but that after being in the Infantry I decided to change my job and pick a base closer to my home. As I picked a new carrier you go down from E-6 to E-5 until you pass school then you get your rank back with back pay, but I got injured and never got to go to school. What Mike is not telling you is that he is attacking me, cause he was trying to make himself out to be a hero, and when I called him on it, he began to attack me. True hero's never brag about being such, they just are, and what he is talking about (Somalia 1993) the only hero's from that day are dead. Instead of respecting that, he is attacking me for calling him on it. He calls me a fake, but here he is using this name and also Collen H to game for points. He also has made other claims (to many to go into) sounds to me like someone just wants attention.

Sure, the military has strict guidelines in the way of progression. You don't make it to a certain rank in a certain amount of time, then out you go. If this soldier had applied as much to his job as he did he personal education then he should have made rank. I can assure you this is on this soldiers head, no one else.

The military has very strict standards, regardless of his civilian education,if this soldier never made strives to advance his military career,I can understand his not making it past E-5.Infantry is just grunt work if he made no effort to learn something else he was lucky to make E-5.Even drill instructors who train basic infantry men have another area of expertice.

well, he must have done something (or shown a severe lack of motivation) to not be promoted past e-5 in 15 years. But yes, you do have to promote within a certain time frame, or you're gone.

Does it matter? He should have made better career choices. College perhaps? Heck, I think McDonalds is a better choice than the military.

I think he's telling the truth. He may have decided that more responsibility wasn't what he wanted. Plus, depending on his jobs promotion points, he may not have qualified for promotion.

some people do not want to accept the responsibility that comes with accepting higher grades.
