I'm doing a report for school about stress and how it can cause sleep disorders and physical pain. I myself suffer from this problem, so that's why I chose the topic. However, I'm having a difficult time finding books and Internet sources with information on the relationship between stress, sleep, and pain. Does anyone know of any websites or books (or any other sources) that would provide information on this topic? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ongoing stress can cause a multitude of problems. You can feel anxious, jittery, have sleep disturbance, depression, tension headaches and muscle pain, lowered immunity, increase white blood cell count, etc...

Short term stress triggers the "fight or flight" response of the autonomic nervous system. Your body releases endorphins along with other chemicals. Ever heard of someone in a threatening situation develope "superhuman strength"? This is a good thing in scary situations when you need to act fast, like in a safety situation. However, long term stress keeps these chemicals at an elevated level in your body, and the result are the things i mentioned above.
