I believe different spirits can alter your mood. I have seen people get very angry drinking rum, and depressed on gin.

Actually there are some minor impurities associated with both of those. They may trigger a sensitivity in your system. People don't find this as common with vodka because it is usually much purer and cleaner when it is finished. With whiskey just the aging process picks up a lot of charcoal and impurities from the casks. They can't take it out, or it wouldn't taste like Whiskey.

The particular ingredient you are referring to is Alcohol.

The reasons for getting angry are manifold. Some are biological (when a person gets drunk, they lose control of themselves. Their animal 'fight or flight' instincts take over). Some are sociatial (the war, the taxes, the country in general). Some are external pressures (my job, my car, my stuff) Some are interpersonal problems (my marriage, my kids, my life)

Remember. Adolph Hitler did not drink whiskey because it made him mean.

Interesting fact - I just heard on NPR this morning that one of the things that may have caused the test results for the guy who won the Tour De France was that he had a shot of Jack Daniels the night before. Apparently, alcohol consumption can raise your testosterone levels. Didn't know that, but higher testosterone in the bloodstream can cause increased aggression.

Or, you could just be a drunk putz. Either one works for me.

Alcohol is a mood enhancer. It intensifies what you have been feeling subconciously. It just brings things to the surface you have been repressing. Write down all your frustrations before you drink or talk to someone about them and see if it eases up.
Of course the obvious answer is just stop drinking whiskey.

Nope, sorry. It's not the liquor making you angry. It's you being angry before you start drinking (or experiencing something that would have got you annoyed even if you weren't drinking), and the liquor depressing your ability to moderate those feelings and react appropriately.
