How bad is it? Coz my D.O.B is wrong on mine too but only by 2 days and I managed to get a job at 2 airports with an airside pass for both, (so much for heightened security!)!
You'll probably have to have it changed but suprise suprise you'll have to pay for it to be changed, even though it was the passport offices fault!

Go to the 3rd carriage of the London Eye at 12pm on any Sunday. You should see a big bearded man wearing a bowler hat and a Scottish kilt(Subject to change, depending on his mood). Ask him this - "How many birds are in the sky today?"
If he answers "I don't know, you f***ing dumbarse", he is the man you are looking for. His name is Igor. Just tell him your name and identity card number and D.O.B and he will "issue" you a new one. Just watch your mail for the next 3 days.

Assuming that you are in the US, you will have to fill out a passport re-application form, submit the passport with the error in it and proof of your actual birthdate as well as two photos. Here is the information to aid you in the process:
http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/correcting/correcting_2654.html
If you are in another country, check with your country's passport agency.

Go to your main post office and they can give you the correct forms to fill out to amend it, they will also check it for you for a small fee before you post it. I just did this with my driving license and its so much easier than having it sent back cos you have filled something out wrong!!
