I don't know where you got the idea of Jesus being non-violent- He said he came to bring the sword - dividing hearts of belivers and non-belivers. If you read the scriptures correctly from Genesis to Revelations - violence is necessary and sometimes it is the only means in solving problems. And No Jesus is not the Ghandi of the first century. I admire Ghandi but Ghandi did not confess to being God or being the way to Heaven. Keeping the peace is nice but sometimes in order to get peace you have to speak the same language the evil people know which is death. Look at history - Ghandi's method would not work in all scenarios like in the case of Ceasar - Nero - Alexander the Great , Hitler and many more infamous and militant warriors

Jesus of Nazareth was firstly the finest[also ThePassion}'s message FrancoZefferelli also did Romeo&Juliet w/ OliviaHussey!Jesus was not just anyone or likened to anyone else!HE[capitalized] by-the-way! Ghandi has nothing to do w/ HIM!Most of what is beleived to be an issue has been made by MAN and not God! Catholics said "NO Divorce" God never did nor did HE about Priests not being w/ a woman! and / or married!Nothing but contradictions! Whitney Huston still thinks she is so religious bec/ she'll NOT divorce? It would cost too much!!To stay in a sick[anyone] relationship is unhealthy for children did God want that?So enough w/ those passifists who still today worship the buck! Mel said it and you cannot escape it! The Jews turned on their own KING! It's Now OR Never!HE was here/coming back!! I t will not be first time....Shalom! I have my own relationship w/ Jesus that is all HE wants/and NO evil intent, also HE never said NOT to defend your self/"Turning the other cheek does not mean to allow another smack! parrables are a form of written sentences that have hidden meanings/they are not "Literal"

I like some of the answers you've already gotten. I think you might want to go back and read the gospels again--there is alot more to the message of Jesus than "non-violent resistance".
Quantrill made a point--nobody kills or tortures in the name of Ghandi. Jesus never wanted anyone to kill or torture in His Name, either--unfortunately, people misuse His Name for their own purposes, usually power and/or money are involved. If you've ever had anybody do anything really stupid in the name of jim_darwin, you'd know how pissed off He is about that.
On the other hand, I've never heard of anyone choosing to die rather than to deny their faith in Ghandi. Or jim_darwin, either.
Go figure........

Turn the question around and you might get a little more sense of why Ghandi was never saved. Was Ghandi trying to be a saviour to his people instead of preaching Christ??

He was? and you know this from? The only accounts of Jesus were not only from the New Testament (which attribute some not so non-violent stances) but also all the books left out. Also remember that the books (gospels, acts, etc..) were written by people who never met him.
We know what Gandhi stood for and accomplished, and amazingly enough nobody kills and tortures in his name.

I just don't know about your about non-violent resistance stuff. because he certainly did not lead crowds or mobs against the Romans or the Pharisees.
He came for other reasons.
He was falsely accused of sedition. He didn't do it.
