♡"One of the most popular phrases in any language is probably "I love you." In Japanese, "love" is "ai(愛)," and the verb form "to love" is "aisuru(愛する)."
"I love you" can be literally translated as "aishite imasu." "Aishiteru," "aishiteru yo" or "aishiteru wa (female speech)" is normally used in conversation..."

Ooh, I just found this yesterday, too!
I love you(very passionate, rarely used in animes, more often in fan fiction)--"Ai shiteru"
I love you(affectionate rather than passionate)--"Koi shiteru"
literally- I'm fond of you, you're my favorite (person), I love you
(In anime, this phrase is usually used when one character makes a proclamation of love to another, especially when it's the first time he/she has said it)--"Suki desu"

i love u in japanese is "ai shi te i ru" (a very nice song sang by Kome Kome Club)
Since bank geek & Cyn have given you very detailed answers which I would not like to repeat here.
Here are some other form to express "love"
Japanese are shy to express "love" in speech, some guys would express their feelings with this line:
ho re chyau!
ho ret te i u! = I'm attracted
when they "kou ha ku"!
(ko ha ku = to tell his beloved one about his feeling in person / in written.)
falling in love = koi ni o chi ru
with love = ai wo ko mot te
Romantic atomsphere = koi no fun i ki
Romance = neng ai / koi
Love = labu (a direct translated form of englisih word "love")
Japanese tease or refer those who display affection :
eg. labu labu shi te i ru! (in short "labu labu") or
labu labu da yo ne!
