Iconoclasm is just smashing isn't it, yes it is idolatry, but it is their idolatry so they do not think it is sinful like it would be if it was somebody else's idolatry, so they call their idols of painted wood and stone "icons", that makes it much better! see what I mean

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, any devotion paid to an icon/statue is passed along to the intended person.
Of course, for support for this, they cite the cherubim on the ark and the brass serpent, neither of which was to "venerated"; the serpent, in fact, was destroyed when people began do "venerate" it (2 Kings 18:4). There is no authority for praying to/through statues, or even to Mary, for that matter; the Bible tells us only to pray to the Father (Matthew 6:9; Luke 11:2)

Catholics do not worship Mary or the Saints. We honor and respect them. Statues are no more than pictures are. They inspire us to remember and pray. Do you have photos of family members? Do you have a picture of Jesus? Isn't the Last Supper an idol? We do not pray to the statues of Christ but to the Savior that it represents.

the catholics responding about their own religion are actually wrong on here. how is worship defined. you pray to mary and the saints correct???? that is worship. you are holding them in an esteem which is wrong. saying a hail mary is worship to mary, and she is not God.

Do you worhip your photo album? Catholics don't worship statues, they don't worship saints. They don't worship Mary, and they don't worship the pope. Just God. Get over it.

God to Moses: "I, the Lord, am your God, who brought you out of the Land of Egypt, out of a state of slavery. You must have no other gods beside me. You must not carve an image for yourself in the shape of anything that is in the heavens above, or the earth below, or the waters under the earth; you must not yap homage to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord, am a jealous God..."(Exodus 19.20)

Because they are not worshipped AS god.
There are no statues of god.
That would be idolatry.
