Well if you are Catholic you are screwed, an abortion leads to an automatic excommunication from the church meaning you are barred from Penance and the Eucharist so in their doctrine you are hell bound.

Only if you believe there are spiritual consequenses. It's really more self fulfilling than anything else. If you don't believe there are consequenses, then there are none. If, however, you believe you're murdering someone, then by golly, you will feel guilty.
Interesting was the case of the unmarried catholic school teacher who got pregnant. She did what the church recommended for an unwanted child, gave it up for adoption. Her church promptly fired her for having a child out of wedlock. Sad thing is, if she had an abortion, the school never would have known and she would still have her job. So ironic, but due to the school's actions, I'm sure the next time a teacher gets pregnant out of wedlock, she will terminate the pregnancy without hesitation. Good job, dumbasses.

Well, why would there be? someone who believes will go to heaven anyway whether they had an abortion or not and someone who does not believe will go to hell whether they had an abortion or not. So according to Christianity, it doesn't matter whether you are the abortionist himself, all that matters is what you "think" in your head about Jesus.
Personally, I think abortion is disgusting, I don't agree with it. I think it is horrible on so many levels and has dire consequences for society and the woman who obtains it mentally and perhaps physically.
But I don't have to believe in a God to know that abortion is wrong. Just like I don't need God to know any murder is wrong, rape, molestation of children (which of course, isn't even in the bible)-- if anything, it describes the massacre of children, rape and everything else as a matter of fact thing.
I think if you want to win the war for people's hearts against abortion, you should learn why it is wrong on logical and practical levels, not because "baby Jesus might not like it, and God 'knew you before you were born"--that is crap that no one cares about and really isn't a good basis to put anything on since the bible is filled with utter nonsense and disgusting details of baby slaughter itself.

I do not know about spiritual but definitely emotional and mental. My mother is currently on medication and dealing with the abortion that she had 30 years ago. It has been more than a year since she started serious therapy. I fear she may never fully recover from it. I believe that when women abort their child they are harming their own souls.
Peace Be With You,
Debra
Catholics are not excommunicated because of abortion. Forgiveness is possible and encouraged. There is help through Project Rachel.

Pro 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood
According to christianity, there is no such thing as innocence, all are born in sin. And there is a way around this. If the fetus is aborted before 14 days, no blood is really shed, since there was none in it.
But anyway, your god allowed hebrew soldiers to kill men, women, and children, and babies, AND pregnant women. So really, what does he care?
Also, you should be consouled before doing something like that, making absolutly sure it's a decision you can live with.

I once had a different view on abortion and stem cell research, and things that involves a rendering of what could become life, but then I must realize that if that life was suppose to be born, then it would be born, simple as that, as far as your quesion no there is no spiritual consequences, because you r not really doing anything wrong, your just releaving yourself of a ________ that didnt want to be here, and its better then when there in the teens and they tell you they didnt ask to be born, but there lieing they did want to be born, as god said he knew us before our mothers new us, those who live wanted to live

Yes, but be clear that there are spiritual consequences to everything we do. Everything from wishing someone a genuine "good morning", to arguing with your spouse, to abortion and any other action conceivable. We are all either positively affected by what we do or negatively affected. Being human means that we will do both positive things (good) and negative things (sin) in our lifetime. As a Christian, I believe that my God saves me from that sin when I accept Him into my life, confess my iniquities to Him and resolve to sin no more. No sin, no matter how big or small, is unforgivable to God. Just ask for forgiveness in Jesus' name.

Thou shall do no murder.
HANDS THAT SHED INNOCENT BLOOD
Pro 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
Pro 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
Pro 6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
Pro 6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

my mother ( like Debra's ) had an abortion just over 30 years ago
she lives with this every day , but the decision she made was the right one for her at the time ... and i have to agree she made the right decision based on her life and what was going on around her
if i can tell you something that happened to me whether you believe in it or not it helped me immensely and was good proof for me
i am a medium and give readings from spirit , but i also receive readings
i received one from another medium one night , she brought through this handsome 30 year old man and the description fitted the father of my brother so much it was so accurate , i was given details also about his passing to spirit , and also about details about my family and their lives at the moment ... this readings for me was wonderful personal proof that even those who are aborted or pass to spirit before making it to this world .. go on in spirit
and one special message that my brother gave was " tell mum i love her "
you see there is no hate in spirit , no grudges .. and spirit lives , learns and grows
and mum knows that one day she will see her boy again
