Humans are the only mammals that drink milk after infancy. We are the only species that drinks the milk of another species. Milk (and other dairy products) can block your intestines and create bowel disorders. If you drink that much milk every day, I would suggest a high fiber diet to cleanse your colon. You can get calcium from many other sources. Many vegatables contain calcium.

What I've heard is that the combination of eating meat while drinking milk keeps your body from being able to ascimilate the milk's calcium.

I believe I read that most packaged milk is fortified with vitamin D nowadays, which is great since it increases the absoption of calcium into your system. However, taking in too much of vitamin D results in increased brittleness of your bones (something about over-calcification I think), which is a more likely result from drinking too much milk (as opposed to the inhibition of calcium uptake).

don't know the science Vimsy but my own body seemed to stop wanting milk in my 20's, i use to drink a whole bag!
maybe i should try a glass again as a teast
but then again.......goin seriously off track here!
modern factory farms have cows with genetically over grown udders and have these beasts wired & tubed up to milking machines and under fake lights and conditions to maximize milk production
they suffer way more then beef cows and we are drinking these joyless tortured animals milk - can this be all good?
( sorry i am going on an obvious tangent and not answering your question! )
I am so righteous!

The problem is with pasteurized and homogenized milk. If you can find a source of raw milk it would help. See rawmilk.org for some details. Also the westonaprice.org discusses this issue.

I don't like milk so I don't recommend drinking it. There are tons of hormones and estrogens in it so that can't be healthy. Drink wine instead!!
