This is a book. Just like Harry Potter. Written by normal human people. It was written AGES ago. People had no way of explaining certain events so they made up stories that satisfied their primitive scientific minds. This is not a book of facts. There some historical truths in it, but the majority of it is MADE UP!!!!!!!

star, if by heaven you mean the dirt in the ground, I'm pretty sure we won't be buried together. Nor will we be "seeing" anything when we die.

So refreshing to see someone else with their head screwed on straight. The bible is for the most part an elaborate fairytale. Its scary.....really scary that people still believe that nonsense these days.
Betcha you get some nasty Christian feedback on this one.
This is the best question I've ever read on here.

Hmmm... right!
People just need a "reference" which (almost) everyone knows about! It's hard to find a person (at least in christians or regions where christianity is predominant) who does not know or has not heard about the bible. In such a scenario, if someone wants to quote a "common" or "well known" reference material, it's but only natural that they quote a "familiar" anecdote or clause from therein... So in common parlance a bible came to be known as the book that can answer any question.... so much so that there is an alternate meaning to the word bible which suggests it is indeed an encyclopedia in the field of context, like "bible of sport", "bible of soccer", etc. In contrast we can not expect as many people to know about "encyclopedia" or what it means, and quoting an encyclopedia in some contest might trigger a response like "what is THAT?" and they might digress from the actual issue at hand... Of course, the VERY religious christians naturally would like to think that the bible is the start and end of the world and everything in between, so it is not surprising that they insist on quoting it in all and sundry situations...

People all over the world do it. It's very odd. They cite as evidence to prove a point that "it says in the Bible....".
I find it very peculiar, and quite pitiful. How can a sane person honestly believe such a lot of stuff which is quite clearly impossible, God or no God. I mean, what happened? Why isn't the world still like that? When was the last time you read in the newspaper about a dude getting eaten by a whale and then popping out a few weeks later completely unharmed? Or a man talking to a burning bush on a mountain and NOT being sectioned?
Very strange indeed.

Actually if you did a little bit of research you would have found that Kenneth Copeland took a team of Scientist who were non-believers and proved that the Bible is accurate on all accounts. This is not a book "like Harry Potter. Written by normal human people" This is a book that was Authored by God and divinely written by the hands of Holy Men. Prove the Bible is inaccurate if you are so sure of it's falsehood.

Way to back your statement up with evidence.
There's been evidence of the Genesis flood,

Evidence of the Red Sea trek, amongst a few.

Why do people believe the big bang theory? To quote you: "People had no way of explaining certain events so they made up stories that satisfied their primitive scientific minds." Even if you don't read the bible, you could do some actual research on the history of its origin. If anything, it has just as much credibility as the big bang theory.

Well I am religious, but even if I was not a religious person, using your logic… it still is a source of information.
Just as people do quote encyclopedias, dictionaries, wikipedia and even books like Harry Potter – they too use the Bible to support their reasons, which were written by human hands. You act as if you have never relied on another outside source for knowledge or to prove/validate a belief or point you had! Please…
This was just an asinine attempt for you to boast your disbelief in religion – fine – we get it! So… apparently you must hold some doubt in yourself to go through such efforts to prove to others it is unreal… ridiculous. ALL of your questions are like this one.

The Bible, like religion itself, is a great thing, because it can not be disproven. The argument used by Christians is "OK, PROVE the Bible is a fake", which, of course, is impossible. You cannot disprove something based entirely on faith, which is why it can be dismissed as fiction. Historical fiction, to be sure, but since the facts therein are largely untestable, they cannot be proven or disproven. Faith is not proof. I can have faith in Santa Claus, prove he doesn't exist! Actually, the Bible is not at all like Harry Potter...because a lot of its references have a basis in fact, just greatly inflated and hyperbolized to meet the needs of those who wrote it.

The Bible is NOT made up,
it is a book written by God through man,
it is completely factual
and don't ask for proof becuase what you believe needs just as much faith(of the real meaning of the word) as what i do
no one has proof to disprove the Bible
