Yes, I was raised to be a Jehovah's Witness and some of these responses are very very humorous. First Witnesses (not Yehovahs) are a Christian religion meaning that they absolutely believe in the deity of Jesus Christ and believe that only through him can one be recognized by God whose Hebrew (old testament) name Is Jehovah (spelled YHWH). It is true that they do not celebrate holidays with the expectation of what they call Memorial Day which is in observance of Jesus last supper / crucifixion / resurrection.
They were founded by a group of men and are overseen by a group that is elected and selected called Elders. They are not a cult! There is no belief in any other prophet, false or otherwise.
Yes they own property in New York where they publish their material. It is not most of Brooklyn and no where near the size owned by other church organizations (the Catholic Church for instance).
They do knock door to door to give witness to the word of Jehovah (Isaiah 43:10-12) hence the name Jehovah's Witnesses. They do preach that only 144,000 humans will go on to heaven (Revelations 14:1-3) but that the rest of humanity will be resurrected to a peaceful perfect paradise on Earth (Revelations 21: 3,4) to live forever as God originally intended. It is very unChristianly to try to keep others from going to heaven just to increase your chances but the Halloween comment was very funny.
They do not worship on Saturday as a rule but will if it is more convenient for those who work on Sunday.
They do refuse blood transfusions on orders that blood is sacred (Acts 15: 28, 29) and as you can see they believe very much in the study of the Bible. The actual bible and not just the highlights or what the person at the pulpit recites during the sermon. They study the actual words in the Bible for themselves and do at times take what is written to literally. They are not weird although a bit annoying. Their believes are sound and found in the Bible even if they are not exactly to the interpretation of others, including myself.

Yes. They are a Christian religion that goes around knocking on peoples' doors and trying to spread their word that only a limited number of souls will be permitted into heaven.
Think about this: If you honestly believed that your religion was right and that only a limited number of souls will go to heaven, why would you be recruiting new members? Isn't that only cutting your own chances down of getting there?
Jehovah's witnesses do not believe in Halloween either. The one holiday where it is O.K. to dress up, walk around town and knock on strangers' doors.

Yes and I heard they are not allowed to hold arms such as guns, why I knew? Got the info when my ex-boyfriend was in the Army whereby they are supposed to serve the mandatory 5 years in the Detention Barracks (Army Jail) as cooks and helpers there whereby the norm is 2 to 2.5 years as a true soldier in camps. But my ex was not a JW, he just works as a Military Police.

A religious cult/sect that goes door to door on their evangelical mission. They worship on Saturday, ignore most Christian holidays, believe in a literal translation of the bible and that the earth is only 6,000years old. They refuse blood transfusions as being against the word of god and that is about the limit of my knowledge.

More than 12 million people associate themselves with Jehovah's Witnesses. More than 6 million Jehovah's Witnesses preach from door-to-door each month, speaking with hundreds of millions of their neighbors.
It seems safe to assume that SOMEONE has ever heard of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Ive heard of Jehovahs witnesses. They've come to my door a couple times actually, asking if I know the truth of Jesus. Then I say, "Yes, I do." and that's the end of it.

Yes, they are a religious cult that denies the deity of Jesus Christ. They were founded by -- and still under the leadership of -- a false prophet.
Go here to read an expose of their beliefs and to see actual documents proving they are a cult and follow a false prophet: http://blueletterbible.org/study/cults/exposejw/intro.html
