I'm a cab driver and I sit in a car for up to 13 hours in a day. When I get home my ankles and feet are so swollen, I can barely walk. Any suggestions?

My feet get like that too... Make sure you drink a LOT of water...not "just any beverage" will do...it's the water that will get that bloating out. Also...watch your sodium...that also can make feet and ankles swell. When you get home, put your feet up... If you are a still sleeper, try putting a pillow under your feet at night to elevate them. Don't bother with things like Diurex...it won't work. Just drink water, watch sodium intake, and put your feet up. Oh! Also...if you have enough space, maybe stretch your leg out a little bit...rather than keeping the left foot bent or whatever, straighten it up...bending them can cause the swelling as well. Good luck.

Sounds like edema and you need to drink more water, eat less sodium and get out of the car and walk for a few minutes to get the blood circulating a little more. I would also go talk to a doctor about that because your blood pressure could be elevated and the swelling could be a warning sign of an upcoming stroke.

You are retaining fluid seems natural because feet are not moving, doctors suggest when driving long distances to get out every 2 hours and walk ten minutes. They also suggest drinking 8 ounces every hour. Really works good elevating feet and arms when you get home may reduce swelling. See doc if it persist.

Put your feet up whenever you can. Do ankle pumps and circles throughout the day to increase circulation.

I was having that problem too, although I don't sit for that long, but I went to the doc & got a prescription for water pills. They helped me alot. Otherwise, you can try putting your feet up whenever you can.

id suggests getting out of the cap am walk or stretch around for 5-10 mins as if you don't it is BAD for your circulation, and it could get worse.
