You MUST get an agent to represent you. That's the first thing you do. You MUST show him that you have the talent and what it takes to make it. You agent, in turn must convince a record producer that you have what it take. There are many record companies that are looking for new talent but there has to be some kind of screening process and that's where the agent comes in. Good Luck

You need to surround yourself with influential people. If you live in the middle of Iowa on a farm, you're likely to not get a record deal. You need to move to the city and find some people that will help you. My favorite place is Nashville... everyone there is very helpful and hospitable. I went to college in Nashville at Belmont University and majored in piano. If you are interested in performing classically OR commercially, you can do either and be well trained there. It's an expensive, private college, but one of the best in the country for music and for music business. Go there, and you'll definitely find what you're looking for.

Well, you're half way there: you can play and sing.
The next half, unfortunately, is the most difficult bit: you have to be original. Unfortunately no one can teach you that. You either are or you aren't.

You know what though, the real shame is that you also mention you are good looking. I'm sure you are, but I think it's a real shame that kids only think they will be a success if they look good. Of course, that may be true; but it shows how f##ked up the whole celebrity thing is.

Get a manager first, but before that you should have tapes, get all your stuff down on tape, maybe you'll have to rent a recording studio, then grab the telephone directory and make appointments to see managers and get them to listen to your stuff. Then it's a long and winding road of Recording Companies, Artist and Repertoir people, publishing companies, and so on, but most important is management.

You'll need to record a good-quality demo, and find yourself an agent. You can usually find talent agencies in the Yellow Pages.

is music what you really want to do? find out what you really want to do with your life first before you plunge into something that might do you more harm than good. if you are meant to be a performing artist, things will work them self out with out you having to do much.
