Depends on what relationship the citizen is to the family member. If it's a spouse they can apply for a family reunion through The Home Office if the family members aren't British. The person has to be in work though and has to provide for the family who are coming over, they are not permitted to claim benefits.
If it's children it's much easier. You would struggle to bring a parent though, any distant relatives don't stand a chance.

Actually bomba, the "tradition" still seems to be going, in that it had as much to do with using our excellent maternity facilities, in our already overcrowded, overstressed NHS hospitals, especially if they knew the child would have a good chance of needing the SCBU and / or they had no intention of paying for their care.

In answer to the question I would suggest either the official home office site, or if you need guidance, (as, no offence your english would suggest) the citizens advice bureau might be best, they have a website, phone lines and branches all over the country. If you want to do this legally and for the right reasons (ie everyones going to pull their weight) then good luck!

It seems that this family is not British . If this was the case, then you can not.
It was almost a tradition that women get to Britain in the latest stage of their pregnancy to allow their British born kids the citizenship and on to the rest of the family but this is no longer now.

it seems like you have a British citizenship. if this is the case, your family members needs to apply through the British embassy to join you from where your family lives. you are to send your bank statements(6 months), utility bills, a copy of your passport and a status letter would be nice from where you work. send as much as documents you can. that may help British embassy to assist your matter that you meet the requirements of immigration. i think this may help you a little bit
