You have mentioned a specific class. that class has only one professor in the class. If you use "the" professor, we would think the professor is the one teaching the class. If you used "a," we would probably think you meant that the professor is not the prof in the class but some other prof in the university.

Usually there is only one professor in a classroom, so the sentence makes perfect sense to me.

I think that you should use Present Simple instead of Present Continuous.

A boy in my class tries to embarrass me in front of the professor.

OR Present Perfect.

A boy in my class have tried to embarrass me in front of the professor.

Because, you use Present Continuous if it is happening right now.
But English isn't my native language, so I might be wrong.

It sounds fine. It doesn't imply anything about whether the listener does or doesn't know the professor.

if it has been hapenning for some time you could try

a boy in my class has been trying to embarass me in front of the professor.

the sentence you mention would make sense only if you are reporting the incident live to a person who is not witnessing it.(say through your mobile phone)

Its construction is correct.

A more powerful sentence might say

A boy in my class is trying to embarrass me in front of professor ____(professor's name) ______.
