I'm Vietnamese and I am a 17 years old girl. I am going to graduate from high school and I dream to study about hotel administration. However, no university in my country has this course. So the only way for me is studying abroad. And I've also found out a uni suitable for my choice. But the tuition and fees every year in there is $ 37,000 and my parents cannot afford that. I don't want to give up my dream. I've heard that international students are allowed to get a loans but in my case the maximum amount of money I can borrow for the whole 4 years is $36,000. Do you have any idea to help me to get a loan of $36,000 every year? I appreciate all your answers in the future. Please, the more detail your answers are, the more chance I will have to attend this uni and make my dream come true. Thank you in advance!

I wish you every success in achieving your ambition but the course fees at your chosen uni are a rip-off. British universities charge less than half that amount per year and their degrees are acceptable worldwide. Investigate the University of Bournemouth and CTHCM (links below).

As for borrowing, always remember that it is taking an advance on your future income and repayment must be made from it. The hotel industry does not pay well in the first few years.

Borrow from family and friends who will not charge huge interest on the loan. Then investigate student loans which may be government supported and offer low interest. As a foreign student in the UK you can also work 20 hours a week and full-time during holidays to support yourself.

Another option is to take out an insurance that pays back your investment in ten years or so. If you die before you finish, the lender gets the insurance money. If you live, you get the full amount you insured for plus a bonus. You need to investigate this.

Again, very good luck with your ambition

I would look into doing the course in a different country. As someone else has said, universities in the UK are a lot cheaper than $37000, you wouldn't be paying more than around $9000 a year over here for your fees. Have a look on www.prospects.ac.uk to search UK courses and find out what the fees are for each university

Nope... if your a good student your country may offer you a grant to study abroad or the university may offer you a scholarship but I think these are very rare for undergraduates. Mayber study at home and do a masters/ phd overseas as its easier to get funding and will only last for a year.

Doubt you'll get funding for that course though... just don't want to get your hopes up... good luck!

Given the current credit crunch I can't see any bank lending you 100% of the money you need 4 ur business venture. If ur house is unemcumbered then if u took a 2nd mortgage and put this money in they may be prepared to lend you the rest but you do need to take into account that if ur running a business your salary of 36000 a year will disappear and personally I can't see how you would make two million pounds profit in the first year of trading. If u put together a robust business plan they may consider it but i doubt it.

Apply for scholarship to your university and sometimes it is possible toget full fee scholarship.Even if you dont get the scholarship, you wont be able to get loan for $36,000 from any bank,so you should depend only on scholarship.

Banks will stop listening when you say $36,000 a year.
How on earth could you pay that back?
