apparantley God said it in a book by N.D.Walsh "Conversation with God"

This is absolutely true. In pyschology it can be considered the repetition compulsion.In metaphysics the more we pay attention to you a situation we will continue to deal with it on some level. The book by Walsh is outstanding. The principles are evident in everything we experience. For example presently I am faced with a challenging situation which angers me. Unlike my reaction in the past I have chosen to attempt to think this through and take a lighter attitude about it. God says he has given us the freedom of choice. I don't want this problem to persist enraging me. I hope this is helpful.

I think facing up to stuff you fear helps you to overcome it and that is the essence of this particular saying I'd imagine.
Shine the light into scary dark corners and you can see what's realy there..take a good hard look at religion and see it for what it really is rather than what it says it is, you might be shocked but you will not be fooled again.
