Born in the christian revivalism movement of the 1700's, many churches use "tried and true" brainwashing techniques to get you into an "alpha state" in order to better receive the "word".

Those who have been brainwashed will usually passionately defend their manipulators, claiming they have simply been "shown the light" or have been transformed in miraculous ways. No one has ever been brainwashed and realized, or believed, that he had been brainwashed.

Are you salivating like pavlov's dog on sunday morning? ;-)

I agree with letting people exercise their freedom to go to church or not. As soon as I became an independent adult, I stopped going to church. I knew most things about it were baloney, so it was no loss.
But yea, there is lots of brainwashing going on. I mean, look at the head of the Jehovah's Witness church. It's just a bunch of old men, squatting in an ivory tower, collecting money from it's followers, and prophesying things, like many other groups. But I'm glad I never went to that one. They don't even celebrate birthdays. But they celebrated the birthday of their cult.

Religion has too large an amount of protection under law though, and there are too many weird and wacky things that religious people and organisations can get away with, under the umbrella of religious freedom.

I believe to some extent all churches brainwash you. Each church believes that their church is best, and that their church knows the full Truth. When people actually agree with that, it is obvious that they are brainwashed.

Many cul.ts have very severe forms of brainwashing. As a Christian who does not have loyalty to any one particular denomination, it is very sad to see others defend their church more than they defend God.

I can safely say that I am not being brainwashed. I am my own person, free to read and see and decide for myself.. just the way God made me. I have my religion.. it's Anglican.. and while I agree with many of the practices they preach... there are many that I do not agree with.. and I do not allow that to affect me. I go to Church. I sing the hymns, I say my prayers, I listen to sermons not with blindness but with an intelligent mind.
I am not brainwashed.. I make decisions based on what I know in my heart to be true and right.

Have you heard of Baptism, it's all about washing...
Most people who worry about brainwashing, have a parent, or an uncle who is about to give all their money to a church, or church leader. Their worries are understandable. But the rights of a person to convert to a religion are paramount. Better a few people lose the bonus buck of heritage, than all of us lose our freedom. I doubt if anyone will understand this, until some bounty hunter (Ted Patrick), snatches you up, and de-programs you. He is a brainwash expert, and he does it for cash...

It is also sad that Christians are so divided into so meny confessions, but let them do as they please...you can serve God in only one way,and it is hard to stay on track with all the info,I guess that is only meant to test your strength.

I con not say one church is better that the other...since it is only one Church of God...so if people play politics, some also play religion, not for us to judge.

We pray and focus on the good, the bad stay with the bad. God bless !

Well what an interesting concept. Possibly written by someone whose brain has been totally washed out.

No my church is not brainwashing me. Cults do. Churches don't.
