to answer your question , no it will carry more people , with less fuel
but the problem is when one of them crashes , ( any thing that goes up must come down ) that will be the largest airline disaster in record . that's the scary part

It is really big but not a waste of time. When Boeing came out with the 747, people laughed at it thinking it wouldn't sell because it can carry so many passengers. But look at how well the 747 sold. I think sales may be slow right now for the A380 but will pick up in the future because as the population grows, airlines will need a bigger plane. Even though I like Boeing planes, the A380 is pretty exciting and I would like to fly in one to experience it.

This is a real dog of a plane. Imagine being in a horrendous crush at the dump called Heathrow. You get on the plane ready to fly, not to your final destination but a "hub" like Los Angeles. The plane developes an engine problem ...... there is no replacement A380 available (obvious when you think about it). Which people do you leave behind when a smaller plane rolls up!

Horrible, this is NOT progress. I have flown over 2 million miles and the best experiences of travel are always on single aisle planes like the 737 or MD80. The new Boeing Dreamliner is the way to go for long haul (not hub to hub!)

May cause Airbus to go out of business. Boeing market research told them the future of travel was more non-stop flights NOT more hub and spoke travel. If Airbus is correct A380 will be big success. If Boeing is correct Airbus has bet the farm and will suffer. Almost all runways for international travel have to be modified to allow A380 operations. Runwamys need to be thicker and wider. Gates need special jetways for passengers to enter/exit from 2 levels. Baggage handling systems handling more bags will be more of a hassle.

Good luck Airbus. My bet is on Boeing, though.

It is not.

As it is now, it is often said that the A380 is a stepping stone for future Blended Wing-Body (BWB) concepts in commercial aviation. As such, developments of the A380 programmme are closely watched by the aviation community. Afterall, if the programme becomes another Concorde (I sincerely hope not), developments in aviation could take a step in another direction.

While, yes, I can agree that all it does is to transport people from one hub to another, there are much more things to the eye at play here that a layman may not understand. Meanwhile, just look forward to the launch of its first commercial service and see what the aircraft can give. =D

To me it is the logical conclusion of the design premise set forth by the 747. If a plane has an upper story, why not extend that upper story down the length of the plane? The A380 will only be able to serve niche markets between large hubs that require extra passenger capacity, but Boeing is betting with its 787 Dreamliner that airlines want flexibility to serve more cities with non-stop flights, bypassing hubs altogether. Still, I think the A380 will be interesting if it is used to provide new services in first and business class on its upper story (e.g. bars, lounges... swimming pools?).

Airbus is the company that makes the A380. It is the bigges passenger plane in the world.

What do you mean by waste of time? How can a plane be a waste of time?

It's the biggest commercial jet ever! This is quite an achievement in itself. Obviously you are not that interested in aircraft so it doesn't mean much to you but for an Aerospace Engineer like myself its pretty cool!

As morbid as it sounds, I would hate see one og those things fall out of the sky! I personally think that it is a big waste of time, money and energy.

BOEING RULES!!!!!
