today they are many software ways to do that.but the process by hand is interesting.you have to change the decimal number to binary first.i hope you know it (by diving it to 2 untill the remainder is 1 or 0).then you have to change the binary into hexadecimal(its again easy i can explain it if you want you have to seprate them four by four and change to hexadecimal)

Which correspond to 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 in decimal.
More background:
234 in decimal is 2x100+3x10+4X1
234 in hexadecmal = 2x256+3X16+4, a different number.
To convert 687 decimal, subtract out as many 16^2=256s as you can (which would be 2), leaving 175.
Subtract out as many 16s as you can (10x16=160), leaving 15.
So you have 2 100's (base 16), A 10's (base 16) plus F (base 16)
687 decimal = 512+160+15=2*256+10*16+15=2AF hexadecimal

open windows calculator then hit view then scientific
then enter 11 and click on hex the answer is B

You can use windows calculator. Anyway 11 is 'B' in hex.
