Don't be afraid to go abroad. We just came back from 3 yrs expat assignment (WITH KIDS) and it was the most wonderful, exciting adventure for our family. NO - it is not more dangerous everywhere else, necessarily, you just have to be sensible. We LOVED Istanbul, but you need to be careful.
