They're not racist. They just don't like Muslims.

You generalize and that is your rationalization. EVERYONE. The other falsehood you endorse that makes up part of your rationalization is that the matter has to do with RACE.
False again. Some Arabs have done all they could to turn world opinion against all Arabs. They terrorize innocent children, women and men. They too rationalize these actions. Like it or not, terrorist Arabs look exactly like all the rest of the Arabs who don't do those things. So there is a huge distrust of all Arabs because on casual glance the good cannot be discerned from the bad.

Now from your viewpoint, it is not very good. You are not a terrorist but people treat you like the hated terrorists. This in turn causes anger, naturally, and you find yourself hating and in fact sympathizing with the terrorists down deep. This is all predictable. All I can tell you is that I am very prejudiced against someone trying to kill me, black, brown, white, red, yellow or polka dot. So is everybody else. What I will never do and most people won't do, is to attack an Arab both verbally or physically without due cause. That is wrong. Dead wrong. An Arab is a human being like anyone else. However in the real world there are people who flow with a mob mentality and do very bad things to people with the rationalization that ALL Arabs are terrorists, just like you say EVERYONE is racist or the terrorists say NO ONE is innocent as they kill babies and children. Well, with all this murderous hate afoot, somebody has to take the high road. That will have to be you if you want to be sane. Sure it is easier to hate, but where will that lead? Just as EVERY Arab is not a terrorist, so not EVERY non-Arab is a racist. That is the reality.
Be vigilant and cautious in public. Don't trust any stranger. Be polite but wary. Stay out of situations that cause your warning bells to go off. In public walk on crowded streets. Be able to defend yourself, should the need arise. Let words slide off you like water down a hill. If someone calls you a terrible name, that does not make it true. The name caller has the problem, not you. I recognize that there are a whole lot of good Arabs who just want to live peaceably. The same is true of a whole lot of non-Arabs.
Good luck.

Some anthropologists believe that during human evolution, we developed the ability to differentiate between subtle physical differences and exclude people based on those differences.

We are social animals and need other people to be happy and healthy. During early human history, we banded together in tribes for saftey. It helped to maintain solidarity within the group to be loyal only to the tribe and to actively exclude others from this preferential group. Some scientists now believe that the advantages gained from this were preferred and through natural selection, this function in the brain became more pronounced and widespread.

According to theory, we now we all have this function in our brain to prefer one group over another based on physical or cultural differences. This is by no means more powerful than reason and rational thought. But it is more powerful than either of those when a person is in a state of fear.

When people live closely to people who are very different, many times they will start to notice the similarities more than differences and this initial state of fear (and culture shock) can be extinguished. It is this education that many still lack and if they were to try to understand you they would stop seeing you as foreign.

In conclusion, if these scientists are right, we are all born racists but can easily overcome that with a little education.

Yes I do.

1. "Political parties" e.g. the BNP create tensions, they constantly spew out inconsistant, and provoking messages regarding Muslims, and Asians.

2. Media. Turn on the TV, and the headline WILL involve a "Muslim" doing something "bad" whether that be in Iraq or Palestine.

3. You are an easy target, a minority.

Lastly, they are probably uneducated, without jobs, and blame anyone who is not a typical "white" for that.

Ignore them.

they are angry at what has been happening in the Muslim world that has been killing and terrorizing countries. i know plenty Muslims that are harmless and would not kill for their religion like everyone thinks they all do. you just need to tell them that yes you are Muslim but you are not a terrorist. not all dogs bite though some do. people are just scared and untrusting. they should trust what you are and not buy into stereotypes. otherwise forget what they say and be you. i hope things get better.

No, cause I am not a racist, I've never been that type of person. So I couldn't answer your question, but you can find the truth by searching websites that promote hate & racism, and post your question in thier forum. Then you will get an answer from a true racist.

I am sorry to say but some people are complete idiots. Just look at it this way, those who are saying these things just have no brains. Look at the source that should say enough. There are still many people that do not know what it is like til it is done to them. They prolly are headed no where in life and have nothing better to do.

Not everyone is racist & I'm sorry that has happened to you. I think some people are scared of things they are unfamiliar with (people of a different race) & take it out in awful racist ways. Your stories were people being just plain mean though!

Not everyone is a racist.
New York City and America are called
"melting pots" because people of many
different backgrounds get along there.
Most Americans are tolerant of others.

Most of the terrorist are Muslim .None of your leaders or Imams will denounce it and call it murder .It then appears you are in alliance with these killers and you are the enemy. then as they do you proclaim your innocence's .but as soon as you see a back you knife it
now instead of debating why it is happening you are attacking and hiding behind a liberal label to defend your position

Because they are the majority. They feel they are better than you. If you go to muslim countries, they will probably do the same against whites. The majority always feels more powerful, and they are (not saying it's justified...)
