Its interesting the christian answerers automatically assume i havent read the bible.....or that its actually me who only read one verse at a time or something.
You really make your self look all the mor efoolish seeing as how I know the truth concerning my biblcal knowledge.
surely god speaks to you on a regular occasion. God must be lying to you all.
if its contradictions, inconsistenecies and mistakes you want I dont have the room here.
also id like to point out.....if I hadent read the bible.....you would say 'read it first before you comment'........If i do read and study it (no doubt more than ye all)...you simply say "why do you read it so much if you dont agree with it" or something silly like that. dont you see......you already set any one up for failure....dammed if i do and dammed if i dont.

Matt. 2:23 "And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene." He shall be called a Nazarene does not exist in the Old Testament. There is no such prophecy.
The Old Testament prophecies against Tyre and Egypt are excellent examples of prophecy failure. Ezekiel prophesied that Nebuchadnezzar would completely destroy Tyre and that it would never be rebuilt (26:7-14, 21; 27:36; 28:19). We know from historical records, however, that Nebuchadnezzar's invasion destroyed only Tyre's mainland villages, but his siege of the island stronghold was unsuccessful. Even Ezekiel himself acknowledged later in his book that his prophecy against Tyre had failed, and so Yahweh, as compensation for his unpaid labors at Tyre, was going to give Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar (29:17-20).

Another inaccurate prophecy is found in Genesis 28:13:Gen. 28:13 "...I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed." Jacob never received the promise land and it is questionable whether the spot on which he lay ever came into the possession of his decendants.

There are no contradictions in the Bible. It may be due to misunderstanding. You may try to gather some more information about the history of the book and then probably will understand that it is the most reliable among ancient manuscripts. It covers a period of almost 1500 years and involves about 40 people from different walks of life. There may be copying errors at the hands of the scribes but those do not affect the meaning and the message the book conveys. It is the greatest and the most powerful book in history. People, individuals and governments, have tried to destroy this book. They have perished but the Bible stands. The Bible has transformed millions of lives for the better.
It is the Word of God, whether you believe it or not. Read it for yourself and see what God has to say about you!

I think you need to add choice " I. "... You ask, "Why do I see so many contradictions"?
I. because you want to see them...because seeing something as a contradiction reinforces YOUR preconceived bias...
There are no contradictions in the Bible. There may be things that seemingly contradict, but that is only due to our own misunderstanding. Things that critics tend to cite as "contradictions" are often very easy to explain.
For example, if someone said: (A = 3, and then later said: A = 10). That certainly appears to be a contradiction on the surface. However, that is only because we are surmising the facts based on limited data. That is; do we know that both "A" values exists in the same point of time and space? Is "A" an unchangeable absolute?
It is easy find apparent contradictions in just about any document. In regards to the Bible, most unbelievers see "obvious errors" in places where there is really no contradiction at all...

I believe in the message of Jesus but I do not believe that he was/is the son of god.
I tried to read the bible in a positive way, but when I read Genesis especially the story of Joseph, I find contradictions for example, in the 2nd year of the famine, Jacob asked his sons to go to Egypt to get the grain for Jacob said if they do not get it, they will surely die because the famine in the land was so vast. But yet, later on I find that Jacob and his family still had herds (cattle and sheep), fruits, nuts and honey and even spices. They were not starving after all!
I know the bible was written by men but can't they be a bit logical?

If one fails to find contradictions in any religious text of any major faith on the planet, I would submit that the one searching for such has reading comprehension issues.
* If "God" is pure love and Pure good, AND created ALL things, then all things would include "His" also having created Evil.
What but an evil being should endeavor to create evil?
HEY KEVIN, I bet you cant read three chapters into Genesis without finding at least three contradictions...

Scholars and Theologians, Christians and non-Christian alike, had listed out many many discepancies in the Bibles and were published elsewhere.
We just can not continue to pretend that nothing had happened. In a civic society, such discrepancies if produced in a court of law as documents would be thrown out by the court right away.
Now you can see what most people believed.

There are none. And what is it with the general statement. Back it up.
You find them because you read in part and pick and choose what is convenient for you to use agains the Bible. Read it in full my friend. Understand the whole picture.

beacause your eyes are still hold apart of the truth...
we are not allowed to interpret the Bible by ourselfs and what you said before is one of the reason; only the Holly Fathers agreed by the Church has the right to reveal the content of the Bible...

it's funny how you pop off with all your choices - but you don't name any contradictions, mistakes...
probably because you can't - probably because you've never read the Bible, and don't know it's a whole Book - not little sentences here and there you spin - and if you read it all, the puzzle pieces come together.
