i don't need it sold to me but lets have a decent discussion. How is your religion different? when did you realise you believed/didn't believe in God/god's/goddess? Has your faith ever been challenged? Have you ever honestly critisized anothers belief? Have you ever told someone they are going to hell ect because they didn't believe what you did?curiously why? And again please no insults, it's a real question not intended to insult any religion

reasons why i am asking- Alot of things have happened lately in my life and i am not sure where i stand on the religious front and i am very confused. Any questions that i have asked so far about individual beliefs have resulted in abuse because i dont already believe. i went to a school where there was only one religion taught and have athiest parents so i thought i would ask real people what their beliefs were, i am fed up with apolagising to people who think because i have asked a question of their religion i am some how telling them that they are idiots.i am not you are lucky if you are not confused or lost. appreciate that people out there are not as well informed as yourselves

I wouldn't worry so much about others. There is always someone out there willing to criticize others for thinking differently than them.

I am Wiccan so I am use to being told I am going to hell or that someone thinks I am evil or worshiping their devil. And yes my faith has been challenged by others for a very long time and countless people have been put to death over it. I have looked at a lot of different faiths and my choice is the one that fits me best. religion is a personal choice and you should never take anyone else's insults to your faith seriously because they cannot know what lies in your heart.

I hope whatever choice you make gives you happiness and peace of mind.

First of all, why would you care to ask about religion. It is a personal preference, and my advice to you is if you feel the need to practice a religion, any religion, go ahead and do it. It will probably give you the satisfaction you desire because you believe that religion will do something for you. You will never have your religious beliefs questioned, feel the need to criticize others beliefs, or be told you are going to hell if the religion you practice seems out of the norm if you will do a few simple things.
Practice your religion
Quit trying to ever tell others what religion you are and try to foist your ideas and religion on them
Learn to mind your own business
Do not make a show of what religion you practice
If people confront you for some reason...walk away.

And you will never have to ask questions like this again.

You should never criticize an others belief!
You never know if your religion is the one and only right one...

I only criticize the intolerant people, which think that their believing is the only real one and want to tell everybody about their believing and their supremacy.
Meaning fanatic christians, radical muslims, orthodox jews, the jehova guys etc..
Please leave us alone!!!!
There is no different in this habit, than in the early 30s and 40s of last century in Germany with the Nazis, which also thought there where better than the rest of the world... everybody knows what has happened to people having different ideas in that country at that time...!!

i've never told anyone that they were wrong... nobody can be!

i see religion like this:

each one has a piece of a puzzle... when you put them together it is the real truth. religion has been altered so much for money and power by so many different people that, if it all started out as the whole truth, each group has twisted some parts of the truth to reach a goal.

everybody is right to some degree and faith gives people hope in a dark world.

i believe god is male and female because you cannot have one without the other... you can see this in yin and yang... roman and greek mythology... nature... people...

i only think murderers and selfish people go to hell. :)

freedom and respect for everyone, thank you.

The only religious people that I can say that really taken it to heart with love, peace, Godly devotion, chaste, non political and go out and do fulltime preaching work are Jehovah's Witnesses.
The world (nations) dislike them which to me shows they are on the right track. The world hated Jesus too and killed him.
To me that is what makes them stand out the most against any other religion.

My belief is that a person's religious belief, or lack of it, is one of the most intimate aspects of a human, and as such, is not open to my criticism. When people try to point out to me why their belief is the right one, I do criticize, in that I tell them why I don't agree with them, meaning why their system of belief is not for me. For example, if they bring up a specific tenet of their faith, and point out why I am damned for not believing it, I will criticize their point, and poke holes in it. I do strive, however, to make it clear to them that while I may not agree with their beliefs, I have no objection to them believing what they do, or worshipping as they choose, if they choose to do so. I would just like the same consideration from them.

I do not follow any organized religion. I was born and raised in a Christian denomination, and I left it by choice when I was young, as I did not believe many of the things they believe. I have chosen, instead, to develop a relationship on my own with the Divine. I call this thing God, because it is the easiest frame of reference for most people, and the concept with which they can most easily relate. Organized belief systems, however, are not for me.

I always believed intellectually in a higher power, and then, when I was 20, something happened that convinced me, and actually made me know, rather than just think. It gave me a type of faith that cannot be shaken, because now I know it in my heart, not just in my head. Though I do discuss religion with friends, I don't try to sway them to my personal views, as I think it is futile; either you believe, or you don't, and that's something that a person can only come to on their own. I am frequently annoyed when people ask for proof, as faith, by definition, is a belief in something which cannot be proven. You have it, or you don't.

I don't remember ever telling anyone they are going to Hell, but it's possible I have. If I have, it was done to simply annoy and hurt them, not because I believe it's true. I don't believe people go to Hell, at least not a place with fire and demons with pitchforks. The most likely people for me to say that to are people who have told me or someone else the same thing, but again, if I have done it, it's just been to be a wench to them, not because I really believe it. I do know for a fact that I have never told someone they are going to Hell for not believing the same things I do; what I believe, and how I practice my beliefs is not for everyone. I have, however, pointed out to people that they are not acting in accordance with their professed views when they are doing something contrary to the teaching of their religion. I don't do it for little things, but for big things, such as a Christian who insists on calling a Muslim names, or mocking their faith; in those cases I will point out that they are, first of all, mocking their own God, as the God of the Bible is the same as Allah in the Qur'an, just called by a different name. I will also criticize the person for claiming to be a follower of Christ, yet ignoring some of His most basic teachings, which is to love others, and to not judge.

The more vocal a person is in declaring themselves a follower of a specific faith, and the more they insist that they are better than others because of their beliefs, the more likely I am to be hard on them. A religious person who treats all others with respect and kindness is likely to be treated the same way by me. One who criticizes other often, or cruelly, is also likely to be treated the same way by me if they force a confrontation and I am not able to just walk away, or get them to shup up about it.

I hope this answers some of your questions.
