I've always been under the impression that they are but surely they must irritate our insides. I mean just look at what happens if we forget to wash our hands after chopping them. I've had a couple of embarrassing instances with g/friends in the past I can tell you! And without getting too graphic we know that the chemicals in our bellies dont fully break the chillis down as they are still burning hot when they reach the end of the digestive system !!So why eat them?

Eat them because they taste good! Also, apparently the alcheloids in the chilli are mildly intoxicating and supposedly good for the heart. I cant remember where I read that. Anyway. EAT MORE CHILLIS!

It's not all that bad!
The more chilli you eat the more spiciness you can stand. You see, chilli destroys the part of your brain that senses spiciness. That part is on the back of your head.

there is some evidence that they protect against prostrate cancer but increase the risk of stomach cancer (so i assume its more healthy to stick a chilli up your backside than it is to eat one) chillies were also used to numb the nuts of eunichs before the chop in china.
they can cause swelling of throat leading to trouble breathing too

They're actually a mild form of poison. They're not good for you. But for the taste...I wouldn't give them up for anything.
