Yup.. Know just what you mean. I'm a christian but I'm also bipolar and every day when I'm low ending my life is all I can think of. Neither the thought of God's love or my children's happiness seem to be big enough reasons to stay at times like those and sometimes staying in the land of the living is a minute by minute proposition.
HOWEVER - my means of getting through to the other side is to constantly remind myself that what I'm feeling is temporary. Everything - every feeling, every impulse, every terrible thing you imagine is endurable; you can live through it. Life gets better, moods change and things that seem insurmountable at one stage later seem smaller.
I realise that this might seem improbable from where you're sitting right now but its true nonethless.
Another truth you need to get a grip on is to get yourself outside into the sun and walk or do something physical for as long as you can handle it and then push yourself a little further. Physical exertion does really make a difference if you can do it and sun light is necessary in the production for many of the chemicals that keep our moods balanced.
If you can do productive things - things where a small sense of achievment can be obtained - then go for it. And if your meds arent working, discuss it with your doc and try some alternatives. If you're going to try natural therapies dont toss your prescribed meds in; use both together under your doc's guidance to see what helps.
Life, even when it seems screwed, is a beautiful thing and even the worst stuff can inform and teach us. I really hope you find your way out of the dark places. God bless.

You need to get more help. I think you need to see another doctor. I have felt this way myself. I am no meds. My kids keep me going. Make a list of all the good things in your life. If you don't have any, make some. Why are you so depressed? What makes you sad? When do you feel most suicidal? these are questions that you should be asking yourself and keep a journal to see if you can find a pattern. Maybe there are specifics to why your depression is so severe. I hope this helps. Don't give up. Sometimes things need to bad before they get better.

I have been so depressed that I have considered suicide before. I have had depression since I was in Elementry school. I have been yo many theropists but none of them really hleped me much. When you are looking for reasons to live. Think of the little things that make you smile or jsut any little thing you like. A favorite food or a TV show even. I friend or a place. A favorite thign to do a movie you want to see. Just think of all the little things that there are for you to go do and try. That's what I do...

Here's an excellent reason to stay alive....
If you give up on this life and kill yourself, your next stop will NOT be pleasant!
Try changing your point of view. Dwell upon and appreciate the little things that most people overlook. Go out and literally smell the roses. Think about how the breeze feels on your face (and how it smells if you don't live in a large city). Eat your favorite food and really concentrate on how it tastes. Watch a sunrise or a sunset...just pay attention to it and appreciate it.
Talking to other people who are fighting the same feelings always helps. Not on the net...face to face conversations.

I COMMEND YOU ON YOUR QUEST TO GET STABLE. IT CAN SOMETIMES TAKE AWHILE TO FIND THE MEDICATION OR COMBINATION OF TO FINALLY ACHIEVE STABILITY. TAKE IT FROM SOME ONE WHO KNOWS EXACTLY HOW YOU ARE FEELING. I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH MAJOR REOCCURRING DEPRESSION IN 1993 (ALTHOUGH I HAVE HAD SYMPTOMS SINCE HIGH SCHOOL) I HAD 3 MAJOR SUICIDE ATTEMPTS IN 9 MONTHS THAT YEAR AND I SPENT THE BETTER PART OF THE NEXT 3 YEARS IN AND OUT OF THE HOSPITAL AND HAVE BEEN ON MORE MEDS AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER THAN YOU'D THINK WERE HUMANLY POSSIBLE. I DID NOT REACH STABILITY UNTIL 1997 BUT MY JOURNEY TO IT WAS LONG AND DIFFICULT. YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT COURSE AS THERAPY IS A KEY COMPONENT TO GETTING AND STAYING WELL. NEVER BE AFRAID TO CHALLENGE YOUR DR'S TREATMENT PLAN. IF YOU ARE AND MEDS AND ARE HAVING SUICIDAL THOUGHT THE MEDS YOU ARE ON ARE NOT WORKING AND YOU NEED TO TELL BOTH YOUR PSYCHIATRIST AND TRAPPIST TODAY! BECAUSE ODDS ARE YOU WILL ATTEMPT TO ACT ON THEM. ONLY YOU KNOW HOW YOUR BODY AND MIND ARE FEELING FROM THE MEDS IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN YOUR RECOVERY BY BEING HONEST WITH YOURSELF AND YOUR DRS. IF YOUR MEDS ARE NOT WORKING THEY NEED TO KNOW. THE GOAL OF MEDICATION IS NOT TO ZOMBITIZE YOU BUT TO STABILIZE YOU. IF YOU ARE ONLY FEELING LIKE A ZOMBIE YOU ARE NOT GETTING WELL YOU ARE ONLY BEING OVER MEDICATED. PLEASE GET MORE HELP TODAY.

Keep talking to your therapist, immediately if you feel like harming yourself. I'd like to suggest you reach out to friends or family for help as well, and to seek out a pastor or others who can help you see that there is a reason to live. I've been where you are, but I've also found that there is hope and a reason to live. Please check out the links below for crisis-hotline numbers you can call if you need to, and for a little bit about my own struggle. I'll be praying for you. Please drop me a line at chad@jesusfreak.com if you'd like to talk.

yes, all the time. i feel the same way so unfortunately i can offer no encouragement.
5 meds seems like an awful lot, maybe you should check-in w/your doc about all the drugs they have you on? i'm on one but it's not doing anything so i'm being sent to a psychiatrist. i'm in therapy too.
