Well, this is a tricky one. The key is preventing in the first place. Know your triggers and if you get migraines often enough you may want to ask your doctor for some preventative medication like low dose antidepressant, beta blocker, etc.

Treatment...the sooner the better. Some people do well with Tylenol/Aspirin/Caffiene mix. Others need something stronger like Lortab/Vicodin. Others are able to take triptans when the migriane is caught early, as long as there are not contraindications. If it goes on too long, you may need to consider going to the ER for some intervention of some sort.

I get them all the time, It usually is an Ultram and a Meclizine for the nausea and a quiet room for me to sleep in.

Please see the link provided for more on prevention and treatment. :)

The only thing that has worked for me so far is taking two aspirin and an alleve. I usually have to do it twice, once and then a half hour to an hour later. I've tried a few prescriptions, but they haven't worked as well.

By prescription, Imitrex (Sumatriptan Suucinate). comes in pills or injection. Works wonders! Shot form works best if you nauseated and can't keep anything down. Check with you doctor.
