Its not about your ego. Generally having a big or oversized ego is a BAD thing, especially to girls. Being conceited is not attractive. I like shy guys but being a typically shy girl myself I know where you are coming from. So again, its not your ego, its your self confidence and self-esteem. Why do you put yourself down? What's so bad about you? What exactly to you overanalyze. Maybe you just need a boost like the encouragement and support of a friend. And when you say new people, do you mean girls, or just friends in general. Try to keep in mind that there is at least one thing about every person that is simply A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Try to spend some time figuring out what makes you wonderful, and less time over thinking every little thing. Keep your head held up high. Its not the end of the world. Just a temporary road block. Best of luck!! Hang in there!

Another lost soul trying to find a way out?
Let's say this one is still hopeful
Praying hard for some quick salvation
Easy as an answer from a perfect stranger?
Reasonable as it might be?

All right, now YOU KNOW the answer..

The problem and answer is YOU! You mentioned that you are shy but others think otherwise! Have more self-confident, be sincere and have a genuine interests in others. You should do fine after that.
