dating back millions of years?

I've always wondered this.

Um, evolution doesn't say that we "evolved from monkeys", only that we shared a common ancestor. Sounds like someone else needs to get a clue...

well, sweetie the fossil record is incomplete. Not one animal has ever been shown 'evolving' through a series of small changes like Darwin states in his STILL unproved theory.

There have been plenty of "missing links" but NONE that have proven any "progression" from one thing to another- only huge LEAPS or genetic dead ends.

I'm not one to say evolution is completely impossible, or that the world is only 2MM yo- I'm keeping an open mind that what we HAVE found can mesh with religion at some point, the way Einstein and Newton felt about science.

You're not being a jerk...

There is a difference between the THEORY of evolution, and fossil records...

We don't believe in the theory of evolution. Don't be fooled into thinking it is a fact: it's only a THEORY.

I've studied biology and biomedical engineering... the evolutionists that claim the beginnings of the earth as completely arbitrary are only theorizing... they have many gaps between the facts that they can establish.

By the way, the only facts in the evolutionary theory of how the universe came to be are actually in line with the Bible's creation story in Genesis. They describe the order of events like the Bible does, but then the scientists get stuck on parts that the Bible tells GOD did something... I found that interesting.

As far as fossil records, of course they're true. Microevolution is the evolution of things from time to time; macroevolution is the part we don't believe in--the part that says our universe was completely arbitrary...

...if an evolutionist believes that it wasn't 100% random, though, then he/she just admitted that there was some purpose or reason for the creation... they admit there was an intent. Well, how could you have an intent when no one is intending it? That means there must be some kind of creator...

****EDIT: Sorry, "oneakmusic" I think I just messed up what you said... I guess Christians DO know what they're talking about... oops.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about what 'evolution' really means. It means the changing from one type to another. For example, dinosaurs changing into birds. If that augument is accepted, then why cannot an elephant change into a mouse? And always allowing enough time. Evolution is not the existence of extinct animals. This fact is proved by the existence of fossil bones. As stated, it is the CHANGING of types. The Bible does not argue that the earth and animals are possibly billions of years old. What it clearly states is that MAN is the one who has been here a comparatively short time. 8,000 years. Check out Genesis ch. 5, and match it with Matthew ch.1 and Luke ch.3, both Jesus' lineage. Creation as told in Genesis is not always in time sequence. Genesis 1;1; states that the heavens and earth were created. Then vegetation, v. 11 and then animals.v. 20. Man came along at v. 26. But it does not mention the very first creation, God's son, Jesus. Proverbs 8;22-31.

The fossil records are sketchy at best. Most of the original claims have been thoroughly discredited. The fossil records are scattered and not continuous. The intermediates have not been found. For e.g. the archaeopteryx which was considered to be the linke between repltiles and birds is no more accepted by paleontologists. They are looking for new proofs.

How about this the National Geographic purchased a fossil in 99 claiming it to be the link between dinosaurs and birds. Know what happened? Someone glued a dinosaur tail to a primitive bird.

The fossil records show us the wonderful evolution of each species of animal God created throughout the earth's history. The only evolution is within a species, not one species into a totally different one...we are not monkeys and never were. The fossil records are there for us to prove God's wonders and I love them! They show us how old the earth really is, how it was populated before God made man, and its a wonderful testament to his glory and power--and proof of the Flood for us. ♥

This is an excellent question and one I've often pondered.

When you have existing proof being dug up all the time, then what more is needed to give credence to the theory of evolution?

Yet, Christianity makes valid points as well.

So, just where do the conflicting views settle up?

Somewhere between here and Heaven, I guess.

There are proofs for creation, or a minimum of for a mushy universe (below 10,000 years previous). as an social gathering, they merely got here upon a small layer of area airborne dirt and mud at the same time as they landed on the moon. They were gazing for countless feet after thousands and thousands of years. The magnetic field of the earth is slowly weakening. in case you bypass lower back a million years, the magnetic field of the earth ought to were better than that of a celeb and the sector of the solar ought to be adequate to take up the total equipment. yet another evidence: comets. there is not any evidence for the position they got here from, and the existence of a comet is merely about 10,000 years. The Bible itself is evidence. No different e book has survived unchanged the way the Bible has. we are a lot less optimistic about what precisely Homer and Shakespeare wrote than we are about what's in the Bible. in case you'll study the Bible, you'll see that there is technological understanding in it, and it would not contradict both. I see your aspect about hypocrisy, yet I even haven't any further began to verify an easy reality of evolution. creation has plenty to lower back it up, yet because the Bible says in Hebrews 11:3 - "by faith we do not forget that the worlds were framed with suggestions from the recognize God, so as that issues that are see were no longer made from issues which do look." understanding comes merely by faith. i for my area trust it takes significantly better faith to be an evolutionist than to be a creationist. speaking of the fossil record, seashells were got here upon on proper of mountains. How does that happen? perchance a global flood as recorded in Genesis... i wish i have given you something to imagine about, yet there are a determination of medical evidences for a mushy earth.

Many who have embraced the evolution theory, have come to realize, upon honestly evaluating the fossil record, that much of it contradicts the theory, and have abandoned the theory altogether.....Sorry, but the so-called evidence is just a bunch of smoke-and-mirror antics foisted on the ignorant public by pseudo-scientists that have nothing better to do than collect and spend grant money.....

Wake up & smell the coffee....

There are real scientists and a surprising number of them that believe in the creation presentation. I have heard some of them explain these fossils with the great flood as described in the Bible. When massive amounts of water move over the earth as described in the Bible's account of the great flood, massive amounts of mud and dirt would be moved by all that water. This would bury animals alive big and small in isolated pockets. As for the separation of the sizes of animals.... larger animals and faster animals would be able to move to higher ground before being overtaken by the flood.

As for carbon dating, I am very suspicious of the motives of the scientists that establish these numbers. The more fantastic the numbers the more notoriety they gained. The same goes for their carbon dating meteorites. Every attempt to prove the evolution theory has been debunked. There have been frauds numerous times that have been proved to be hoaxes. Why are they so intent on convincing us all of evolution? Because of their dedication to the faith of Atheism. Why are you so interested in convincing us of your belief? What wondrous contributions to society to we have to thank atheism for?

Most fossils are found in sedimentary layers of rocks, which are laid down by water. The only event capable of burying billions of deads things all over the earth is the global Flood. The fossil record is the record of death, not a record of life.
