I'm not religious. I've studied the world's major religions, and I study science too. I want to know, not merely believe. To believe means to be convinced something is true without proof. To know, one must work much harder and question his beliefs. One should look objectively at evidence for and against any idea and think much about the matter. Genesis begins with two somewhat different creation myths that do not account for the things scientists have learned over the centuries. Noah's Ark is also a myth without scientific basis. I took Bible courses in college, and the textbooks point out contradictiions in the Bible, as does a book sent to me by Billy Graham years ago. The latter glibly tries to explain such things. It doesn't succeed. After much study and thought, I cannot believe in Christianity, Isllam, Taoism, Shimtoism, Hinduism, Buddhism or any other organized religion. None can account for what Science has revealed. Indeed, I refuse to blindly believe in anything. To know is better.

I believe all organized religions are right ands wrong. Each of them got a piece to the puzzle but sadly refuse to put it together. I truly believe their can be a middle ground between religion and science.
Those who close their minds off to only one point of view are shutting out the truth. Which is their lose.

i'm trying buddhism. the historical buddha advised us to try his system for a short while sincerely, and see for ourselves the benefits. this is an approach i can personally relate to.
all religions are valid for certain people, but i don't feel comfortable with the major theist religions because of their very checkered history, and don't feel i would ever need an intermediary between myself and god.
i do feel, like i said, that any religion can bring you to a state of holiness, and in fact i revere most the saints, who i feel are people i can relate to and try to emulate.

I am anti-extremist.
If you are an extreme of ANY religion - you should move far far away.
When I say extreme, I mean - Christians who bomb abortion clinics - who think Gays are going to hell - and support Bush just because he too is Chrisitan.
I mean Muslims who believe America and Israel should be destroyed. True muslims believe in unity and peace.
Orthodox Jews who spit on the Israeli soldiers who saved them during a hostage situation. why? because orthodox Jews dont believe in any sort of violence - even if it is to protect yourself.

I was born Jewish, but have a respect for each persons belief. As Mahatma Gandhi once said your religion is purely between your maker and yourself.

I can't tell you about my religion--I don't believe "it" I believe in God
d We need to realize that not one "religion" or "god" (small g) died to redeem mankind from eternal hell-eternal seperation from all that is holy. Only Jesus and as his followers,we go by the name of Christian -focus on Him,not on labels. Not only did Jesus die in our place to bridge the 'gap" that sin in the Garden of Eden brought about, but He rose from the grave, victor over sin and satan. What other "religion" can claim that of their "god"? ,marlyne B

Wicca--NO it's not Satanism and I don't even practice magick. (It's spelled that way on purpose, BTW) Because it's a nature loving religion and I love nature and all of its beauty. Cuz I'm a hippie. Yes, I am and I'm proud.
