I am not a Muslim but I also don't eat crabs and prawns. I am a Seventh-Day Adventist. We follow the instructions in the old testament where we only eat fishes that have gills and scales. I think it's also practical since crabs and prawns eat the "dirty" things in the ocean. They clean the ocean with what they eat. :-)

Because even the christian bible says not to eat what crawls on the ocean floor. Since Muslims Accept the bible as gods word they follow that part of the scripture.

Because to eat shellfish is considered an abomination just like homosexuality. It's in the Jewish and Christian Bibles too, look it up!

I never heard that, before, but it might be because, in the Arab world, you either can't get shellfish, or, if you do, it's about 7 minutes before it goes bad in the heat.
Just a guess.
