"May I sit at this table?" is correct. Unless you are trying to figure out if you are capable (physically) of sitting at the table.

It may be correct, however my mother always told me it was
more ~ polite ~ to say -
~May ~ I sit at this table?
Do something nice for a stranger today. And tell them to pass it forward.
