Hello just a question--I have a 10-month old son and was wondering if anyone else has this peculiar habit that my son has. Here is the deal my son when he is excited or overly happy about something will sometimes just totally tense up and literally looks like "superman" with his arms straight out, he stands on his tiptoes if he is being held in a standing position on the floor. I mean his whole body just goes...and this seems to all bed voluntary because he does this when he is excited or something like that.

My mother-in-law was worrying about epilepsy which I absolutely think he DOES not have but it is better to be safe then sorry, I mean you can really see how he does this on his own accord....just wondering if anyone has this certain attribute in there own child.

Thanks again--Jammie Girl

If he had epilepsy he wouldn't be striking a Superman pose. When my son gets excited he squats and squishes up his nose or he dances in circles. Every kid has his funny little quirks.

The excited child. I hope you take pictures of it so you can show him the way he used to act when he got excited. I wouldn't think that there was anything wrong with him. All kids express themselves differently when they are excited. I do know what you are talking about though. My son, when he gets excited he rocks and claps, but that is just him. Sometimes he does it when he did something right or he is being helpful. So no I don't think that there is anything wrong with your son he is just HAPPY

Well I have a nephew who is like that, he is one and two months old. He is fine and continue to be happy too.

Yes when he tense and do the superman stunt, he also make some funny noise including his face expresion all change with out stretched hands.

It might be different for your son, perhaps getting him check with your family doctor, is the best solution than taking my word for it.

Cheers

Your son sounds so darling! I agree with the others who suggested that you try to get a picture or video of this and show your Doctor- just to make your mother in law feel better when the Doc says that he is just fine!

Best wishes!

Better then explaining this to your doctor, is actually capturing it on video. Because sometimes when you try to explain something like this without the visual, the Doctors tend to just think that you are a overly worried mom. Tape it and then take him to the doctors. I pray that everything is fine with your sweetie. Good luck.

GOODNESS :)
your boy is fine! everyone expresses themselves differently. it's a stage he's going through. don't listen to your mother-in-law, she'll just get you upset. i would suggest taking the child to the doctor and telling doctor what your mother in law said. THEN you will have a "PROFESSIONAL EXPERT'S" testomony when you hear your mother-in-law make another one of those statements!

Yeah, think it's pretty normal. I have seen quite a few different kids do this sort of thing when they are fascinated by something.

Talk with your pediatrician if it concerns you, or your mother in law.
