Give your soul & body a chance to catch up with one another. Get good day sleep. Get out in the day and visit mellow places like zoo or museums or parks. Go walking, biking, or swimming during the day. Tire yourself out a little.

Count your Blessings. Thank the Provider of all things for every little thing, especially those that which you take for granted.

Drink valerium tea early to late evening and St John Wort, both are available at heath stores.

Are you really depressed or just worried. Most of us worry about a lot about nothing or about something that we can do nothing about. Get truthful with yourself. find out Why you feel as you do.

Go to a Human that you can trust and is a good listener. Go to one who knows you well or does not know you, but must be a good Listener. Hopefully they would have good sense.

Challenge you mind with something that you would like to do or admire that someone else does. Music, knitting, math, poetry, writting, programming, drawing, etc. Play puzzle games.

Eat warm Cereal in the evening. Pamper yourself. Pray. Cheer up. The best way to be happy is to try to be happy. Be Patient.

Forgive me if my answer seems sporadic, my answer is general because you were not specific enough for me to answer specificly so I had to assume several things. I hope I was helpful.

If you are goin to be awake, be productive. There might be a talent screaming to be expressed.

Think Good thoughts the bad ones do you no good.

P.S. If you take up music as an option do not do the tuba! Too loud.

Try chamomile tea about 30 min before bedtime. It can help you sleep. Also go to bed every night at the same time...even if you don't feel sleepy. Just laying there will help you learn to relax again and it gets the body used to doing it in a routine. This will lead to deeper relaxation and eventually sleep.
The depression is probably caused by the lack of sleep, but see your doctor to make sure the cause of both sleeplessness and depression isn't a physical sickness or disorder.

Depression and insomnia go hand in hand. If you can talk to your doctor openly and honestly about the depression and get started on a medication then the sleep will come soon after that. If your body and mind aren't rested then you will become depressed. It is a viscious circle but there is hope. Please go see your doctor ASAP so you can get on the right track and start feeling better. Good luck. And remember to go into this with an open mind.

Talk to your doctor about getting some meds to help you sleep. Be honest and tell him about your depression. You may need some meds to deal with the depression first, and the sleep problems may resolve themselves.

Be honest with your doctor, so you can get the right treatment. In the meantime, take some Tylenol PM and breathe deeply.

try not to think while your asleep, let your mind go blank.....meditation its a good one to do. You can get calm tablets over the counter they are great, they calmed me down and got me to sleep. If you talk to your pharmacist they will tell you which drugs are the best to get. If not then your doc. Good Luck

I think you should talk to a therapist.

Do you excersise? Excersise will make you happy because it releases endorphins (chemicals that make you feel better).
Maybe you can do some kind of meditation too.
