What is your opinion of police officers?

An extremely demanding job---double tuff when its tuff--and somewhat thankless in the overall
My dad was a cop for twenty years----has this to say at 95 yrs of age----whatever a man is---when he pins on that badge---it will be THAT times ten---if he is a really good man---that times ten---if he is an_____ --that times ten------AND----it only takes one ______ to turn the attitudes of a thousand people sour on a hundred that are decent !!!
So---a very hard job---mostly thankless--and very few who can do it---and do it well !!! My dad was one of those who did it and did it well !!!

I totally respect police officers as I've never had bad experiences with them. I've been stopped for violating traffic laws, but I was breaking the law and I should have been stopped. There are so many varying opinions about police officers turning on their own and doing bad things, but so do teachers, preachers, and other groups of people. I believe the majority of them are respectful and dedicated to seeing that we are safe, and I'm thankful in this crazy time of our world to have them as I feel much safer knowing I can call them anytime. I don't think they are paid nearly enough money for always risking their lives on a daily basis, but they feel the call of helping mankind or they wouldn't do it.

Police officers are fine with me. My opinion of them is high. I never had a problem with the police like so many others, so my comment may not mean much.

Some are dumber that crap... they live in a world of their own and expect to be above the law themselves....
e.g when is the last time a cop got a ticket from another cop? Yeah I know it doesnt happen, but you know thet speed on and off duty just like everyone else...
Additionally, they still have to dealk with their personal beleifs, so if they were afraid of blacks when they were young.... Guess what.. there are intimidated now..
all in all I respect 50 percent of them are decent people and 50 percent of them are just jerks who are on a ego trip because they carry a gun....

Well, I am one and I love me. I will say I don't like all police officers though.

I respect them and admire them. I'm a Correctional Officer. I wouldn't want the police job, although I did when I was younger.The majority of cops are good people.

My hubby's a police chief, love cops, and his officers stop by our house all hours of day and night....it's good!
they dont get paid enuf for all the crap they do and put up with!
You officers keep safe out there!!

I think that most of them are good guys and are out to help people. But I've come across some who are on a power trip and abuse their position in society.

They have a job to do just like anybody else does ..Myself I like the good cops and not the dirty ones they hurt a good cops name ,but we need them for our protection against the evil ones we have roaming the streets.You go miss guff..Proud to know u.

they rule. my uncles a police officer and i hear some pretty cool stories about how he goes on drug raids
